Bluetooth to Phone

Will Karoo ever be able to connect via Bluetooth to my phone? I don't want to buy a SIM card to enable features that are provided on my Wahoo Bolt via Bluetooth. This one single feature is what prevents me from using my Karoo full-time on my bikes.

  Hi Mark,

  We are yet to explore this feature in Karoo. We follow a structured workflow to pull a feature into the software pipeline. This involves discovering the Pros and Cons from competitors, researching from customer interviews, designing and then when all these are finalized, it will be moved to development. I do not want to promise something that we can’t deliver on time, and would rather be happy to announce timelines or apps as they are ready.

  My other computer uses Bluetooth via the phone for things like live tracking, text notifications, and call notifications. Seems like it would provide opportunities for additional functionality without requiring users to get a SIM card and purchase a data only plan from a cellular carrier. WiFi tethering is OK but it drains the battery from what I understand. It would also open up the opportunity for a compatible phone app. Although the Karoo is pretty large and the touch screen makes it pretty easy to move around and configure some ppl still prefer a phone app.

  I'd really like this too as my cellular carrier does not support the karoo. The only way to live track would be to have a phone connection. Until this is available, the live tracking can't be used.

  The ability to see calls and messages would be wonderful too.

  How high is the priority rated on the feauture backlog for:
  Bluetooth Connection to smartphone, so that users can receive readable messages from whatsapp and telegram and sms on the Karoo’s screen?

  I would also very much appreciate this feature. This and live tracking would make the Karoo the no brainier GPS over Garmin and all the others out there.

  Hammerhead definitely needs this one ASAP, you guys are behind the ball compared to even the cheapest Garmin or Wahoo on this

  I don't know what they are waiting for to incorporate these functions. They are essential. It is basic for people who must be aware of the phone for work. If they do not solve it I will have to migrate to Garmin. It's a shame. Here in Spain this situation is not understood.

  A question for Hammerhead staff... This feature is included in the Karoo 2, will it be coming to the original Karoo too?
