Sorry for the trouble caused. I have created a support ticket requesting for the FIT files and the serial number of your Karoo to troubleshoot the issue. I request you to follow-up there with the requested information.

For the issue with the Varia connection, I checked with the software team and they confirmed that we have a known issue where Radar stops reporting cars even though still "Connected" in sensors app until you unpair and repair it. They have already developed a fix for this issue and it will be released to the ATG soon. Once we get a green signal from ATG, it will be released to the general users. Thank you for your patience during this time.

I am having the same issue but with a Bontrager Duo Trap S Sensor. It shows it is connected but will not record speed and cadence. I unpair it and then repair and it starts to work and then drops out. I have the duo trap set as first priority and I also replaced the battery in the sensor and it still drops out or does not record. I have the varia and that work ok all the time. Thanks Steve Calci

Same for me. In nearly every ride, once or twice every ANT+ sensor connection is gone for some seconds to nearly a minute. Than it comes back without need for an intervention, and always in the same order:

    1. heartrate comes back

    2. cadence comes back

    3. powermeter comes back.

Sensor drop appears to a problem in the entire product category.

Not sure where HH stacks up, but check out the Garmin User forums and look at the huge log of problems they have with the same problem.

What is needed is a BT/ANT+ sniffer, a FIT file reader, a readable configuration file and a good trouble-shooting protocol , in order to see what is happening , address what  you can , and give them a good picture if you need to. Otherwise it is capable of confounding by being affected by a cloud of influence: head unit radio, antenna, programming, sensor, batteries, interference, distance, haints .

I was really vexed by this, and by not knowing what I could do myself before asking for help with a well described problem.  I am settling for limited reliability, not that that feels great.

Want to go in with me on a T-shirt for Hari that says, "They all do that." ?

For me, this improved dramatically with some of the last updates. Usually, it needs severall rides until a sensor drops its connection. (Before: nearly every ride.) And even then, it reappears much quicker than before. Thanks, Hammerhead-Team!

In the past, my sensors disconnect, but Karoo routinely reconnects within a few minutes. (Very nice.)

But, today, the sensors dropped and Karoo could not reconnect any of the sensors.

(Using ANT+, I have the Varia radar, power meter and cadence, and heart rate.)

    Question:

Is there a way to force Karoo to reconnect without interrupting the ride-record?

    Thank you!

Sensor  issues, Mount failures, Charging and battery issues are characteristic of the entire field.

Bluetooth has issues across all product lines. Get a "sniffer" and look for interference and see all the BT  items in your environment. Establishing and maintaining dynamic connections is  problematic and there are lots of variables.

This ain't yet a Plug'nPlay world , but the Karoo is handling it as well if not better than the rest.

Grateful for ANT+, because many of the issues cited by Richard are not so much a problem. Connection drop-outs in ANT+ are more difficult to diagnose than blocked BT connections.

I continue to think that Karoo should consider how to "force" sensor reconnection mid-way during a ride, without interrupting the ride-record.

    Thanks!

This has happened to me every ride so far. The Karoo usually stays connected to my HRM but it loses the power meter once or twice a ride.

Using the quick menu drop-down thing and turning all sensors off and on again "fixes" the issue but it's a bit rubbish.  My Garmin did not have this problem.

First of all, sincere apologies for the frustration caused by the sensor disconnection issues. We are aware that we should focus more on sensor reliability and connection issues and we are working on a permanent fix for this issue. We expect this to be fixed in one of our upcoming releases.

@Hari - is there one sensor connection mode that is viewed as more reliable than the other?   All my sensors are ANT+ and BLE.   I went BLE due to it's higher transfer rate and lack of quantity limits and experienced drops on my first ride out.

Running Stages left crank arm power meter on road bike and a right crank arm power meter on mountain bike.  Both having trouble with ANT+ connection on my Karoo 2 continuously searching then showing readings over and over every minute or so.  Was using ANT+ because read it was better connection considering battery consumption.  Finally got fed up with looking down and seeing “Searching” for my power reading.  Last week decided to switch both bikes to Bluetooth connection.  Can’t say how it affected battery life but have yet to look down and not see my power output number.

Any update about this issue? Same issue here. Stages left crank powermeter connection drop outs ever few seconds. Zero offset impossible. When the crank is in the right place for zero offset, the karoo has dropped the ant+ connection. With bluetooth, no issues. But bluetooth causes a battery drain. So please fix the stability of the ant+ connection.
