Hey Julian. Sorry for the trouble and confusion.

On the Karoo, currently, the two fields Calories and Calorie Burn Rate are calculated from the Power data and not the Heart Rate data like Garmin. Our calculations are based on Training Peaks and we believe measuring these values from Power (watts) is more accurate than deriving them from Heart Rate (beats per minute).

You can give this article a read to learn more about this: https://www.trainingpeaks.com/blog/how-accurate-is-that-calorie-reading/

Please listen and create a HR based calories function for those without powermeters attached. We know it won't be as accurate, but this provides a boost to see the numbers when out riding.

Agreed with these posters. Not everyone has expensive power meters or need them. I
just did my first ride with new Karoo 2 a 3 hour 1200m climb 55 km cycle. Tracked on both the Karoo 2 and polar watch. Calories burned on Karoo was 1200 calories. 2650 calories on my polar.
not acceptable really compared to the competition

    fix it

If they want to fix it, they could of done it already.

My first post was 10 month ago, and there isn’t just me with this issue plenty of users.
I have Karoo one home but i don’t use it at al.
I am a happy owner of Garmin 1030 Plus.
I’ll use the Karoo whenever they fix this.
