Hi Giles, Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you with the sudden battery drainage. Have you ever performed a battery calibration on your Karoo which has turned out to be helpful for users who encountered the same issue?

Here are the steps to recalibrate the battery fuel gauge:

    1. Let the battery die (run to flat)
    2. Power back on
    3. Repeat power-on attempts until it will not turn on (doesn't even show boot animation - 0%)
    4. Charge to 100% WITHOUT powering on the Karoo (generally at least 6 hrs, dep. on battery)
    5. Once at 100% THEN power it on.

Here are some tips to save the battery on your Karoo while you are riding:

    • Turn Off Adaptive Brightness under Settings > Display. Set Brightness to less than 50%.
    • Turn Off the Wifi and Cellular data (If not in use)
    • Turn On the Airplane mode under Settings
    • Try to use ANT+ for sensors over Bluetooth.
    • Enable Auto-pause
    • Turn Off Bluetooth/ANT+ if not in use.

Right now, it is not possible to put Karoo on sleep mode while riding. But you can turn off the screen by pressing on the top left button and Karoo still records the ride. You can turn it on with the same button.

If you are still facing issues with sudden battery drainage even after performing those steps, please write to us at support@hammerhead.io and we are happy to look deeper into this issue.
