Distance not recording, Speed to showing

Yep, I've got the exact same thing going on!  Worked fine a couple of weeks ago and I then did the system update on it earlier this week or late last week.  Hadn't used it until today and it wouldn't register.  Kept automatically flipping to auto-pause.  Turned auto-pause off and it still didn't register speed or distance.  My pairing to a heart rate monitor and cadence sensor worked fine.

Rebooted it and no change.  Has to be an issue with the latest update?

Hi, Really sorry to hear that you faced issues with speed and distance recording on your Karoo. Just to isolate the issue further, were you using a speed sensor or it is just the in-built GPS?

Just the GPS. Garmin cadence sensor and Garmin heart rate monitor from watch are all connected to the Karoo. Both are working fine.

    Cheers

Also just the GPS for me.  My DuoTrap has just a cadence monitor and it worked fine, as did my Wahoo heart rate monitor.

I have created a support ticket requesting for some additional information to troubleshoot the issue. I request you to follow-up there.

This was resolved by creating a new profile and deleting the old profile. Support believe it may have been a corrupt profile that was causing the issue. Thanks Hari.

I'm having the same issue: the GPS is working but I am getting zero distance recorded and zero speed on some of my rides. I will try a new profile next...

Donald, please also check if there are speed sensors linked on the profile. Disable the sensor if you want the speed through the GPS.

Hi, I just had the same issue. After a terrible morning losing time and patience to understand, I figured it out: my cadence sensor was also considered as a speed sensor (the ones that count the number of rotations a wheel makes). I had to disable this feature in the Karoo. Who uses that (wheel rotation counter) anymore? Couldn't you on the Hammerhead side make the gps a priority if both gps and wheel counter are recognized? Thanks

Hi, I've just brought a brand new Karoo 2. Set up all sensors. Just ridden round block to check alls good. No speed and no distance registering. Also auto pause keeping cutting in. Turned auto pause off but still keeps coming on. Have deleted profile and put a new one on but still same problems. Any help much appreciated

Hi Ian, you probably have a sensor that checks the number of pedal strokes (and wheel turns). Find that sensor in tour Karoo and sets the measure of the number of wheel turns to "no". Or make sure this sensor is not used to measure speed/distance in tour Karoo config. Best

Hi, removed cadence sensor. Still same problem, no distance measured, no speed measured and auto pause still cutting in. I'm really annoyed because I've given my son my garmin 530 which worked really well, no issues and all sensors worked cadence, speed and heart rate! I'm really lost as what to do. No one to speak to on phone to talk me through@ I've watched all the help videos and been on your forum. Someone said it was when they uploaded new software and they had all of my problems. There answer was delete profile, create new profile, problem solved but it didn't work for me! Please help me sort this problem and put my faith back in Karoo.

Hi Ian, I see you have raised a ticket with us. We will get back to you over there. And if required we will try and set up a video call with you to walk through the process. Nothing related to sensors has changed since the release, but we would like to investigate this problem. Do you still have the speed sensor connected and is that functional? I could see it on your recent ride, where the speed sensor battery wasn't reported. If you do not use it on your ride, I'd suggest you remove it. I could also see the cadence sensor added on your ride, so it doesn't look like it was removed. Please check those and let us know on the ticket.

Hi I've put new batteries in all 3 sensors. A whatsapp video call may sort this problem out quicker. Thank you, Ian

In my case I think it was that the speed/ cadence sensor was before the Karoo. Note that this was first gen.

I’ve bought Karoo2 a couple weeks ago and having similar problems when I added external sensors to the profile (cadance (mio) & heartrate (wahoo)). External sensors do work but speed & distance don’t (remain zero). I added profiles for MTB and beach racing and they don’t have cadence sensors. Speed & distance are working ok on these profiles. It seems the Karoo sw has some problems caused by external cadence sensors. Please advice.

I wonder how the reported problems have been solved in the past? Can anyone give an update in this forum?

Jan, if your bike has a combined speed and cadence sensor you may need to set the setting correctly and install the magnets. Check this article to make changes to the settings: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/8718666247195-Karoo-2-Combined-Speed-Cadence-Sensor

The item was solved by deactivating in sensor settings the speed option on the Mio sensor.

Same for me. I removed the wheel magnet because it didn't stay on too well and then parked that bike for awhile. Just back on the bike today and auto pause wouldn't disengage and no speed. Got to the coffee shop, found this post, went into the sensor settings, turned off the SPEED portion of my speed/cadence combo sensor and poof, like magic speed works and auto pause turns on and off as it should again.

    👍🏽
