Predicted total elevation of a route 30% overrated.
AnsweredI'm preparing some routes for next long weekend. I noticed again a considerable difference in the total climb estimation between Karoo on one side and RideWithGPS, Komoot and Sigma. I've created the route on RideWithGPS and then exported the same gpx to the other platforms.
Day 1
- Karoo 451m
- RideWithGPS 350m
- Komoot 320m
- Sigma 323m
Day 2
- Karoo 828m
- RideWithGPS 693m
- Komoot 660m
- Sigma 657m
Day 3
- Karoo 680m
- RideWithGPS 449m
- Komoot 440m
- Sigma 435m
Day 4
- Karoo 1192m
- RideWithGPS 882m
- Komoot 850m
- Sigma 851m
As this is all based on map data I would expect some consistency. But the only consistency is a 30% overrating of Karoo.

Hey Steven,
Sorry for the inconvenience. We do accept that there are inconsistencies in elevation data when compared to other route making websites. This has been noted at the escalated to the software team and they have it in their backlog to work on. I cannot promise a quick fix for this as it is part of a huge update regarding the maps and where we get our elevation data from. However, I can assure you that this has already been pushed up and is currently one of the things we are working on with high-priority.
