Unpleasant surprise if there would be additional TAX for distribution Karoo-2 to Netherlands
AnsweredHey.....what is going on here?
I have pre-ordered the Karoo-2 as well, but am not aware of any additional TAX.
I agree with @Reno Jansen in a separate post (and shared the images attached) and I have shared the same experience like Reno Jansen last year. I bought the Karoo-1 and it was shipped from Netherlands.
As I am living in the Netherlands, there was no additional TAX or whatsoever.
Now, for Karoo-2 it seems as a unpleasant surprise that there will be an additional amount of TAX (85 dollars!!)
Why?
Is this Karoo-2 shipped from the USA?
In that case, I would rather wait another e.g. 2 weeks. Let Hammerhead first ship a bulk of Karoo-2´s to the warehouse in the Netherlands and have it distributed from there.
Would that be an idea?
But by any means, don´t surprise us with the additional 85 dollars!

Hi Alexander.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. Let me clarify how additional fees are calculated. As we mentioned in your pre-order confirmation email units may incur additional taxes and duties.
Your particular order is shipping within Europe and is therefore subject to the applicable VAT tax, which varies according to your country’s policies. VAT is calculated after you enter your shipping address during checkout and is then added to your order total.
Your unit will be dispatched from our warehouse in Heinenoord, Netherlands so you will fortunately not be assessed any further duties, and fees, beyond this, nor will you need to handle any customs clearance.

Thanks Abhishek for quick response.
From your reply I learn that Hammerhead did know on forehand which countries are impacted and also how much the TAX would be.
Me, nor a lot of others did not know that.
In the Netherlands as a economic right by law, to protect each customer, this should be explicitely stated how much the netto price will be (so including Tax). Prices as well as Tax are specified by Hammerhead in dollars, so you could have known. Currency swaps are of course day-by-day different.
