Hey Brett. Sorry, we are not planning on making that a customizable option. This was a major design decision that was taken based on the justification of Data fields and customer surveys.

Franklin, I find it OK on the left as we all read from the left but and a big but it is this idea of the Varia display not staying on is not good for my safety as some times the car is beside me before the Karoo puts it on the screen, that is way too late plus I just can't trust it as I did. What's the point in the maps if safety is impaired?

Funny to say this but on my days rides yesterday the radar line changed to just 1/16  of an inch wide, never had that happen before.

Funny, happened to me as well.  Had a heck of a time figuring out what's going on during my ride.  Eventually after a lot touch smacking the screen I got it.  If you touch the "radar" symbol it will move out normal again.

That is the last thing I need as well as the white line is not there until a car/van is beside me Paul Soldo, I can do without the maps as most of my rides are now more local or I know the route so well but I need my HR showing and that radar at my age of 76 and rising.

Hey Gordon and Paul. Sorry for not responding sooner. It looks like you might have accidentally muted the Radar. When muted, the sidebar is reduced to a thin line which shows the Radar threats. You can tap slightly below the Radar symbol on the status bar to toggle mute on/off.

I would suggest that you take a look at this article for visual reference: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360052473053--Varia-Radar-integration-

I head what you say Franklin but please revert it back for us who wish to use the radar, the mute I don't want at all. In August it worked brilliantly the last month I might as well throw my Garmin Varia away.

Just got back from a short trip around my local small town and I'm still not happy about this silly Mute idea, it was not easy to un-mute it and it slow to react for letting me know of any danger.

Radar Mute icon is not in easily found guides that explain it, and screen is pretty laggy after the last several "üpdates". Makes any kind of certain, positive screen command uncertain, often repeated, possibly filling a buffer with on off repetitions.

Just the thing you need in traffic with a "safety device"

Yeah , the command is there.  Just try and find it,  Gets reset unintentionally,  and takes a lot time to decypher , the total opposite of intuitive.

Puts the bait back in Beta.

Just because some young riders asked or the ones your customer surveys say one thing does not mean all of  use proud owners of the Karoo wish to have their Varia set I that way, again I'm implore you to revert the app or make it so we can control the way we need it.

Would appreciate the display on the right side of the screen as well.

I cannot find a thread or anything as to how to interpret the position of the cars relative to me on the Karoo 2 head unit.  Is their an explanation or primer somewhere? Thanks.

Today a short had my radar set to ON connection to my K1 yellow top line across  the screen but as I  got going the yellow  line went off when stopped it came back, as for picking up the traffic  nothing? Just checked the sensors all OK.

Definitely a +1 for an option for the display to be on the right - it's so counter-intuitive where we drive on the left to not have the display on the side that vehicles are passing on.

Assuming you have seen Franklin's master work  in its latest iteration:

    https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360052473053--Varia-Radar-integration-

It other wise just indicates "Few", "Several", "Lots" of vehicles, Closing, Gone, Whoops, Dayum and several variations on Where-dit-go? and "Nuttin_mo_impotent_dan_you_Varia_bat".  The display data is not very, um,  granular, and a mirror, glance back or prayer is required for detailed interpretation.  Still the best out there, depending on your need for light control.

I would also like the option of radar display on the right, for those of us who ride on the left, all traffic passes on the right, it would appreciated if that feature could be added.

I would also like the option for radar display on the right. I live in Ireland and traffic overtakes on the right. Please

I've ended up with the radar icon in the action bar, and no sidebar. I can't see a thin sidebar line, nor is the radar muted as there's no line through the radar icon. The icon does however go yellow/green/white when cars pass from behind...
Anyone know how to restore the sidebar to its former glory? This is doing my head in!!!

Hi Chris, it seems the radar is muted through the Karoo. Check the "Toggle mute" section of this article. https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360052473053--Varia-Radar-integration-

(2nd last image, where you have to click on the colored icon that you see on the status bar)

    Franklin's masterwork has had a 10/17 update. https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360052473053--Varia-Radar-integration-

It was in the memo you got, uh, you got the memo, right? The video?  The podcast? The rumor? Google?

The muting feature is not something you should be trying to figure out in traffic, regardless of which side of the road you're on.

The email of update on release elements is pretty spare. It does, however, encourage self reliance.

I find it surprising that you have discounted the option to allow users to decide upon which side of the screen to display the radar bar. For any country that drives on the left the natural side to view the bar is on the right. Since making your decision a year ago have you had any discussions about reversing this decision?

Only once in the last few months has my radar gone on mute & I got it back almost instantly & all is working fine. As for left or right it would be nice but it might be jumping left & right at any time on the ride, making it a right pain! I read from my left I ride on the left & always found it spot for that

Hi Gordon, the point of left and right is not for the display to switch during a ride but for the user to be able to choose which side it appears all the time. This was countries where you ride on the left you can choose to have the display on the right hand side instead of the the current only option of it appearing on the left hand side of the screen. It seems much more natural to have the display on the side of the device that cars will actually be passing you. Garmin has this option already.

Personally - I'm fine with the display being on the left and cars passing on the right (UK). Doesn't phase me at all...
Managed to fix the 'mute' glitch by unpairing and repairing. Great help from Hammerhead Support 👍.
Just to recap the glitch (for those who didn't quite read my post) although my radar was unmuted it didn't show the sidebar. I knew it was unmuted as there was no line through the radar icon. Anyways - all reloaded, fixed, and working fine now.
    Hammerhead support 10/10...

When they altered the width and the time limit, I had a problem with it but now it is OK by me. Yes Phil, I would agree that we should be able to shift this from left to right if we wish but I think HH has to try to keep things stable, there are enough mistakes as it is, they are getting better at rectifying the bugs, so they are limiting a problem. My K2 messed up the screen map for today's ride but it might have been my fault, I will see if it happens tomorrow. Not had that problem since my early days with my K1 three years ago!

Fair enough, it's definitely not a show stopper. I am very new to Karoo (1st ride two days ago) - coming from long term Garmin background but the screen of the Karoo attracted me. Not 100% sold on the tech yet, feels like the software needs a number of iterations to get up to the claimed "Garmin killer" stage.

I would find this very useful to be able to choose which side it appears. Riding in the UK, and cars passing on the right if me, human nature would be to associate the notifications on the right if the screen. Finding it a bit strange to be notified on the left, then having to be aware of the actual cars over my right shoulder, seems very counter intuitive and against UX for riders who ride on the left hand side of the road.
