OSM Map Update Schedule and Alternative Vector Maps on Hammerhead Karoo?
Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding the update schedule for OSM maps on Hammerhead Karoo devices. I’ve noticed that the maps are sometimes a bit outdated, which is a concern since the main purpose of the Karoo is reliable offline navigation.
Is there any official, regular schedule for OSM map updates? If not, are there any plans to introduce a more predictable update cycle in the near future? I believe more frequent updates would be a huge benefit, especially for users who actively contribute to OSM and would like to see their changes reflected sooner on the device
If a regular update schedule isn’t planned, is there at least an option to install alternative vector maps? For example, apps like Locus Map or Orux allow users to load and customize vector maps from various sources, including OpenAndroMaps and Freizeitkarte. Has anyone here successfully loaded alternative maps onto the Karoo, and if so, could you share your experience or a guide on how to do it

Yes, I know this video and it is the reason I wrote this forum post. I successfully changed the map theme, but I didn't take any risks with changing the maps. Since OSM maps change almost daily, and vector maps or their equivalents for Garmin are generated monthly (or every other month), I wonder how often Hammerhead updates its maps.
If it is twice a year, it is definitely too infrequent. That is why I wonder if it is not possible to upload something of our own and give a choice between Karoo maps and what we have uploaded? That is why Karoo has so much disk space to handle.
