What to look for in a compatible heart-rate watch

I'm in the market for a smartwatch with heart-rate monitor that should send its heart rate data to the Karoo 2. However, I don't know what to look for in the wide range of devices available.

E.g. my Fitbit Ionic does not sync heart rate data live to anything but its own application.

How can I be sure that the device I want to buy can serve as a source (not sink) of heart rate data? Does ANT+ support on a watch guarantee that it can transmit it to my Karoo 2?

  I'd be very surprised if any watches could do this, most just take intermittent readings, you be better off with a chest HRM and get the watch that you want for the other features.

  I just got the Garmin Venu 2 and can confirm it broadcasts HR data to the Karoo 2 via ANT+ just fine!

  Hey All,

  While we are yet to officially integrate smart watch support with the karoo, We have seen users successfully pair their smart watches which can broadcast in ANT+. However, as the data fields maybe not fully support the data coming in you maybe see minor discrepancies in the numbers.
