Power Meter L/R Balance Not Accurate
AnsweredThe Karoo2 is not recording my power balance accurately (way off). I have an Infocrank power meter. This function is very important for me as i am recovering from injury. Would also be nice if you could see it in the ride summary (without having to use a third party app).

Hi Rebecca
I too am experiencing this. Do you have the data field with power balance active or is it when you upload the file? As far as I can see it only becomes skewed when uploaded, probably indicating that it has something to do with the way it is written in the FIT-file. I use an Favero Assioma and normally i lie around 50-50 but recently it has said about 60-40. Rebecca is it also the left one that is registered to have the highest values? I tried to troubleshoot if it was the Karoo 2, pedals or Trainingpeaks by recording an activity on my Garmin Forerunner 735xt where the power balance was 50.2-49.8 while the file from Karoo 2 said 63.5-36.5Best regards Anders

Hi Anders
To be honest i haven't really been watching the data on the screen, only looking when uploading the file and yes my left side is very overstated (by 25-30% i would estimate). This is a deal breaker for me (I am still in the 45 day trial period) how do i find out if it is something that can be fixed?
Interestingly when i downloaded the .fit file from the Hammerhead dashboard then manually uploaded it to Garmin connect it doesn't even show the power balance.

Hi everyone, We have released a software update yesterday where we’ve fixed a bug with our FIT file recording of Pedal Power Balance in which the Karoo could fail to record a Pedal Power Balance value at the same rate that it recorded Power. This had no effect in the data fields in-ride, only the FIT file, and it didn’t affect the recording of Power itself.
Could you update your unit to the latest software version and check if that resolves the issue for you?

My Power balance also seems off and biased to the left on my Karoo2 with a 4iii if I watch the figure whilst I ride. I can't see the data recorded to the file either for balance to review after, so I had to resort to using my wife's Garmin to record this.
Other than connect.garmin.com, where else can I see the recorded data? Some of the fit file analyzers that I tried don't read the file.

Hi,
I have just started using my Karoo 2, my power balance historically is 48L/52R. On my ride today the Karoo showed my balance to be 49/51 but when uploaded to training peaks the balance is 53/47 - this is massively skewed the wrong way. I checked my only other ride on the Karoo last week and this also shows a 53/47 balance which is incorrect.
I am running the latest firmware. Are you sure this is fixed?

This problem still exists. I have contacted Hammerhead and they tell me that the problem is with the way Training Peaks treats the data in the Fit file that is downloaded from the Karoo2. For me this is not an excuse, because this does not happen with the same training session when I upload it from a Garmin device. I use Favero Assioma Duo.
