    Hey Michael,

Thanks for posting! This is indeed an interesting suggestion. I am sure that our product team would be thrilled to hear this. I will be sure to bring this up during our next discussion on the UI/UX improvements on the Karoo!

We thank you for taking the time out and dropping in your suggestions on the Forum!

I would like to see this feature too.

On the Garmin it was kludgy. You had to edit a text file in a directory while connected via usb.

I think a simple page in the settings would do it.

Display owner info on boot y/n

    Owner info:
    Name
    Phone
    Email

Hmm that gives me an idea... Display emergency info on crash. That would be useful.
    Emergency contact
    Allergic
    Diabetic
    Etc.

Yeah, or you could just have a big "Emergency Info" page after the various profiles in the home screen. Someone in an emergency might fiddle with the Karoo to try to get some info.

This is a great idea Michael! The hack to get this on a Garmin was a bit fiddly but if this could be something that is edited via the settings page on the dashboard and then updated when the Karoo syncs then this would be perfect. The idea of both an if lost screen / an emergency contact screen would really work well for this device.

Plus 1 for emergency info AND the if found return to on start up. Recently went to update my old garmin and forgot that I’d “hacked” it to do that.

If you install something like the "hidden settings" app you can set the screen to auto lock (either with a pin, pattern, or simple swipe) as well as set up a lock screen message.

So that's a solution for now for anyone who wants it. But it also means this is literally a built-in feature in Android and HH could implement it simply by exposing the setting in their menus. Almost zero work for them.

Edit: and they really ought to set up swipe to unlock regardless since as it stands you have to disable touch before putting device in back pocket, because it _will_ wake itself up at some point and start getting touches all over the place. Which is really dumb.

This would be a great feature. The reason it was such a "hack" on the Garmin was so the message would survive a hard reset. Eg. if someone took your device they wouldn't be able to easily remove your message.

it still is a great idea, used it on my Garmin, and although not easy, it was possible.
Are there any developments on this? last message is 3 years ago
