OFFLINE MAPS IN CURRENT LOCATION

PLEASE! Make a little button somewhere to automatically download the maps of the current location.

Most of the time it's a real pain having to find the region of the CURRENT LOCATION.

  Hi Simon, by default, if you come to a new location and the device doesn't find any maps downloaded, it prompts you to do download the region for the current location. This was a change was introduced first on Sep 10, 2020 release: https://www.hammerhead.io/blogs/change-logs/karoo-software-build-version-1-151-894-3

  If you are still missing, you can tap on the 'Download map' option on the route app to download any regions that isn't already available. You might have to give it some time to sync the routes and the tiles downloaded. This was a feature first introduced in Oct 7, 2020 release: https://www.hammerhead.io/blogs/change-logs/karoo-software-build-version-1-159-913-3

  Hi Ali, I never saw any option to download any map of the current location, and I believe that requires having a route, no? (I had a route too).

  Your second paragraph refers to what I mentioned before, sometimes you don't know in which region you are, sometimes you just know the city/town you are... I travel to many countries here in Europe and finding the "region" is not always that straight forward....

  Please make yourself the exercise: choose a random city from Germany, then try to find the region and check if that matches the list of regions in the Karoo! If you were lucky and found it within 10 seconds, try with another city ;)

  Hi Simon, I tried it with a couple of different cities all over the world. I was using a simulator to do this, which ideally replicates the behaviour as if someone is travelling. And I received a pop up to download the map for each of these regions.

  To answer your question:

  There are 2 ways this works.

  1. If you have a route, the route app will ask you for the map download

  2. If you change location, and the map region is missing - it asks you to download the map. Like this update from yesterday:

  Hi Ali, thank you very much for your response! I forgot to mention I'm using the old Karoo and I didn't see the behaviour you are just telling me
