I thought I'd share my experiences of using the Karoo 2 for a solid week whilts touring in France. I have toured France before and used a leading competitor's device successfully, so I feel well placed to comment on the device. Firstly, the good points: The screen is clear and does not suffer from glare - ideal on the few sunny days I had. The screen is very responsive and was easy to manpulate, zooming and panning. The device overall is not too bulky - key reason for returning my simply huge competitor's device - I don't want something as big as a mobile phone, and as costly sticking out the front of my bike. If I did I'd use my mobile. Mapping was accurate and warning beep gave me time to make turns. Integration with Komoot and Strava very good - downloading maps simple. Rerouting close by good - see Cons Battery life good in Battery saver mode - a days ride would still have 50% charge Then the cons When in Battery saver mode the "hill climb" feature (shows upcoming ascent) locks the screen on whilst completing the climb. If I'm try to save battery turn the screen off again until I've completed the climb. Rerouting when not close to the route sends you back to the start of the ride. Saw this mentioned on another post - obviously not been sorted yet. Needs a dust cover for the charging port Better UI needed for mapping on the device. Almost pointless, buttons microscopic and very fiddly. Overall I love the device far more than the competition. It just needs a few tweaks to be great - for me

  Steve Cottrell - my unit was shipped with a couple of dust covers but they are tiny and prone to getting lost.  Asked hammerhead about replacements and they said they are freely available i.e.

  Kind of misses the point that other makers have a dust cover that is attached by a small lug - but at least replacements are easily sourced.

  You can get USB cables which have a magnetic detachable end that can stay permanently in the USB connection, and makes for easy charging by snapping into place on the cable. Also acts as a permanent dust cover for the port.

  Obviously means you have to keep using that one usb cable with the magnetic end, but if you charge in the same place when you get home shouldn’t be a problem.

  Damon, Regarding the USB cable with detachable end.  Sounds good.  Precisely which part do you have.  Maybe a link to a site that sells the device with a picture.
