I confirm that I also have this problem.

I can confirm this is an ongoing issue for the past 2-3 firmware updates. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve given up on the Karoo 2 and went back to my PC8 as the activity is useless for coach to analyze.

    Hi All,

Thank you for posting & bringing this to our notice!

We did roll out a fix for issues around power inaccuracies with SRM power meters a few releases back. Could you guys confirm if power figures are discrepant even after removing the Power meter from the Karoo and refreshing the connection by pairing it once more?

The fix you rolled out for SRM PMs before was to fix the cadence numbers not being available.

I can confirm that unpairing and repairing my SRM does not fix it. I even tried doing a factory reset and tried reordering the paired sensors. Please do not suggest that as that is not a fix as I’ve done it numerous times - it is such a bad experience.

The issue is that the Karoo will zero the SRM and does it when you’re pedalling. You’re essentially under reporting the power cuz its calibrated with force being applied. This was not an issue previously so you have introduced a bug when you fixed the cadence issue. It is so frustrating how you do release management.

    @Akhil,

John's description of the issue is exactly what is occurring to me. This is obviously an issue that has been introduced with a change that has been made to the firmware. It was working for me up until I installed software version 1.223.1071. It is happening with the current software release version 1.226.1077

    Hi All,

Thank you for sharing your observations here. I have created a ticket for each of you to track this issue further. You must have received an email notification as well. It would help us greatly if you could share the FIT files of the rides where you encountered this particular concern.

Same problem here, SRM re-calibrates mid ride.

I have some a fit file where i stopped at 50:39 to re-calibrate.

Hey Guys, has this been fixed? I am on the brink of buying this as my wahoo doesn’t want to play nice with my SRM.

Nope.  I do not understand how you can have releases that breaks things as it fixes others.  I'm super frustrated as being in the IT industry, this makes no sense.  It basically become a $500 paper weight for me with no option BUT to wait.

Yup, as @John Rho says, it has become a paper weight for me too. Luckily I have a PC8 head unit to fall back to.

Hey guys, the problem is not solved !!! From the first time I wrote a software update has been released that has made the operation a little more stable but however the calibration is most of the time wrong with and the wattage data is unreliable. Yesterday I practically ran a race without the given watt because I couldn't stop and recalibrate .... It's a rather embarrassing situation!

I wanted to use the K2 for club rides but also needed the activity for my coach to analyze - it's become useless as a training tool if the power stats aren't accurate as it defeats the purpose of the power meter.

Hi All, we are still working on this case, but it has not given us the desired output to consider it as solved. We may want to reach out to a few users and involve a member of the software team to work with you. Please let us know if anyone will be willing to get on calls/video call in order to solve the problem. Thank you.

Hi Ali, I have read your post but I have to contradict you the problem is not solved at all! SRM users have probably abandoned Karoo 2. I continue to have problems with calibration at every output, and every time I have to stop to perform the calibration procedure. It can be said that it works better than in the past, but that the problem is solved is another thing.

Hi Francesco, I am sorry if my comment wasn't clear. This is still an existing bug that we ought to fix, but we need help from someone in the community to work with us. Please let me know if you would be willing to get on a call with the developers.

Yes, my Karoo 2 is sitting in a drawer and I have not used it since I opened this thread/issue. I have gone back to using my PC8 head unit.

@Ali If you need someone to work with your developers, let me know. My professional skill set falls in that realm.

Thanks, Trent. I will follow up with you on this separately as soon as I hear about the next steps from the developer. I really appreciate your willingness. Thanks again.

Hi. If auto pause is switched off does this resolve the calibration issue? I assume doing this will have an impact on the displayed average speed if you stop while riding. Will it also affect average and normalised power as well?

@Andrew Payne While I have not tried disabling the auto-pause setting, in theory it may prevent this auto calibration issue; this is assuming the issue is related to resuming from auto-pause and not a zero speed.

What I find absolutely annoying about this issue is that the unit used to work. Then, in one of the firmware updates the ANT sensor code was re-written/changed/updated and introduced this bug. Not good. I suspect the reason this bug was never caught in QA is due to the fact that the number of people using an SRM/Karoo 2 combination is small and was never tested at all. Therefore this is a complete QA failure.

It sucks because I paid money for the product and it worked. Then an update was pushed out and I ended up with a product that does not work correctly any longer. It has been months so far and honestly I do not have much confidence in this getting resolved. I have relegated the Karoo 2 into a drawer somewhere and have gone back to using my PC8 head unit from SRM. That one works perfectly and collects accurate power data.

    Thanks, Andrew.

@all - We have a fix and would require help from users who easily reproduce this issue on their SRMs. Before rolling out the fix, in an OTA package we need to test if the fix is actually working in the code or not.

I have connected with some of you on this thread over the email and will be sharing the details of the test. Please respond to me over there. We require you to have ADB installed on your computer, to install the sideloaded fix that will be provided in the APK file.

@all - To those who received my email, we are looking for confirmation of the fix before Friday, ideally by Thursday to start packing it on an OTA package.

Hi,  The guys at Hammerhead sent me a fixed (as per the above comments) for this SRM calibration issue and did solve that problem.  This fix was rolled out on general release on Thursday 27th Jan 2022.

I then found another issue that sometimes when starting pedaling caused massive power spikes to be reported.  These were well over double what I could reasonable produce.  This had minimal impact on the ride average figures, but is a serious issues if tracking max power levels.  Ali was very responsive and having provided SRM PC7 and Karoo .FIT files, confirmed overnight that it was an issue and they would work to resolved this.  A fix was provided in under two weeks. I've been using this fix for the last 5 days and both the Karoo and SRM PC7 are reporting consistent figures.

All now looks good on the SRM power meter front with the Karoo.

I’ve been experiencing this same issue post Jan release. It’s incredibly frustrating. I also don’t want to update the SW on my unit because I don’t want to give up my DI2 integration. Feel stuck.

Just moved over from a Wahoo Roam and noticed my SRM power numbers are reading much lower than on the Roam, even after calibrating, wondering if this is still an issue.  Gonna watch for it on tomorrow's ride, sad we have to do quality control on a product that has been on the market this long.

I had this issue in August 2021. It seemed to be fixed with a software update, but a similar issue is coming up in the last week (August 2022).

Agree with you Jay. I just finished a ride last week in the Rockies where my power was registering correctly. Then after a short auto pause it was showing my power as I climbed battle mountain at sub 100 watts. When I stopped and looked at my settings it had taken my offset from mid 500s to mid 700s. After I recalibrated again every thing was good.
