But the Hammerhead dashboard loads perfectly well in a mobile browser?

What is the problem here? All you need to do is tap on the sync button.

Steve, the problem is that you can't sync if you don't have wifi

Perhaps we're talking about 2 different things here.  Yes, you can sync to the server if your phone has cell service, but that won't sync to the head unit unless it is on wifi, or you buy a SIM card and cell service for your karoo, which most of us don't have.

Not everyone has a mobile hotspot, that is an extra subscription cost.

No additional cost for enabling personal hotspots on iPhone (as far as I'm aware). Just comes out of my monthly data plan.

Verizon blocked/removed the hotspot from my iPhone a while back and I’m still on a discounted rate from a former employer. I can’t do anything to my current plan without losing that discount. Not ready for that double whammy.

Actually we have an app don't we.  It just doesn't do much.   A more complete app could transfer gpx tracks or routes over bluetooth.

While I was out riding today I thought of a partial solution to one of my issues.  If I had a wifi router or someway to create a wifi network in my camper van, maybe I wouldn't need cell service or a hotspot, or access to the internet.  I could use FTP to transfer files from my laptop to my karoo.  Maybe.

Brad, I would appreciate a bluetooth upload of the route as well. Wahoo supports this via their app.

The Hammerhead app is Android only and enables Android phones to broadcast notifications to the, errr, Android-based Karoo. Why can't Android devices talk to each other natively? Doesn't seem to be an issue for iOS, hence no iOS app.

Also, I cannot ever think of a time when I have thought, "I wish I could send this route over Bluetooth to my Karoo". I actually think Hammerhead's cloud strategy is pretty good and the way in which is the Dashboard can sync with other platforms is excellent. It's by no means perfect - and it would be nice if the Karoo itself was able to sync directly with connected services without going via the Dashboard - but I do not have an issue with this today. It works perfectly for me.

Just because Wahoo has this does not make Karoo inferior, IMO. I prefer Hammerhead's method of getting routes onto my Karoo.

Steve, Wahoo can also sync via cloud and it doesn't even need a dashboard. The Bluetooth route would be only an alternative when you are out and have no WiFi access. How do you get the route to the unit then? You would need to create an WiFi hotspot etc. I agree though, there are more important things to do, but it would be helpful sometimes.
