Just a thought on this - I would REALLY like Elevation Calibration to be included on the new control centre. I find that I often use it, but it is hard to get to in settings because swiping down to open it invariably opens up one of the other settings instead, so it takes multiple goes.

Victor - absolutely, 100%. I use elevation recalibration virtually EVERY ride I go on. Not sure what it is about living near the ocean in Vancouver but the starting calibration is off by minimum 50m on every ride when I’m at Sea level.

@Brandon it looks like a ride needs to be in progress for dark/light and rain modes to work. Makes sense.

Thanks, Geoff. That's right - the rain lock and light/dark-modes work only when ride is in progress.

Brandon, the screen off option is present on the second Display page of the control centre.

The 'Power-off' in the centre of screen is non-functional to avoid accidental touches. The touch screen does work if you tap on the red power-off icon, beside the bottom right hand button.

    Hi,

I've already noticed some issues with the new control center (which is great by the way):

If you're on the first page and trying to swipe to the next page, as soon as you start swipping inside the already shown brightness slider, you immediantly change the brightness (instead of swipping). The same thing occurs on the page w/ the big brightness slider. You can't swipe back to the previous page (from left to right) cause: as soon as you start your swipe on the brightness slider (which is the biggest control of this page), you change the brightness instead of swipping...

During a ride, it's nearly impossible to swipe using your fingers...

Hi Marc, yes, we noticed it too and have a fix for it in the next release.

    Thanks Geoff and Ali,
I noticed this morning on my commute that the dark/light mode and rain screen both worked just fine while on the move.

@Victor, @Brandon: good idea to have elevation calibration in the control centre. In fact I prefer to have the option to assign elevation to the home location. And the Karoo should auto calibrate elevation when starting near the home location.

And in addition I would like to have an option to store several locations with assigned elevation.

The control center seems like a good addition. Intuitive and quick access to options which weren't as easy to find before.

But I have to say I really dislike how hard it has become to turn the screen off. As a long distance cyclist who needs to make the battery last as long as possible, it's pretty much my most used feature of the Karoo :) When I first got the device, it was just one button press (two buttons simultaneously) to turn off the screen, which I liked a lot. Then came the quick action menu which was still okay, because it remembered the previous used action. But now I have to navigate to the right menu and right action which takes at least five presses I think. Sure, it can be done quicker with the touch screen but when riding on rough terrain (or rain, or gloves on, etc.), hitting the right touch button can be quite a coin toss.

I understand that 'screen off' isn't used as much by most riders, but I really wish there could be something like a customization option to make it the first action available, preferably with one or two hardware button presses. I'm sure a lot of randonneur or touring type riders would really appreciate that feature.

I too think that the new control center seems like an improvement but something is wonky with the screen brightness slider. Apart from the above mentioned excessive sensitivity it also displays a different percentage than the brightness slider in the settings menu. They’re somehow not synchronized.

Furthermore I’d personally like to see an additional control center “profiles” page for quickly switching and/or editing profiles or assigning bikes even during a ride. I know that this can be done via the physical buttons but think it would be a neat addition to the control center.

I also like the new control center. I would love to see some more "connection settings" for the quick access. Bluetooth, flight mode, wifi (is already accessible) and cellular data should be integrated. If you dont need them for a specific ride e.g. you dont have to stroll through the settings menu for saving battery.

I only need cellular data for longer lone rides (for live tracking). In most of the rides i dont need cellular data. Quick access to this settings would be awesome

As the others, I also think that the Control Center is a great improvement. I would appreciate it, though, if there was a short cut added to trigger calibration if a power meter is connected.

Ali, why would you only make the control center options for light/dark function when a ride is in progress. It’s much safer to change settings before you begin a ride. If you can adjust brightness stationary, why not the dark/light as well?
