Karoo 2 software not updating

    Hi,

Are there any restrictions on the network you are using?

When I connect my Karoo 2 to my work network, it can see the update, but will not download it.

IT says that it is because the update download is trying to use Google DNS, which is blocked by our network. (strangely, whichever mechanism is used to check for updates works)

If I connect via my Phone hotspot, or home network, it works OK.

Have you tried a different network?

Thanks, Dave. Unfortunately, the DNS issue remains one of the reasons that block the update.

Tim - could you also try a factory reset on your unit and then connect to your network for the update to download. That has proven to be a success for many riders.

    Hi Ali,

Why does the system insist on using Google DNS for downloading the update? is this something you can fix/change?

it can't use it for other things as the upload to strava works, as does checking for the update in the first place.

    Thanks

    Dave

Dave, we use it before downloading a software update to validate a network connection. We plan to improve this in future if there are more users affected by it.

oh, ok (so that's a no then).

and people wonder why there are disillusioned Karoo 2 users.

Guess it'll stay gathering dust on my desk.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for the advice with the network. I tried using a hotspot and a friends network, but same issue occurred.

I tried another factory reset and immediately connected to my phones hotspot rather than the homes wifi; that pushed through the updates and got me up to date.

Hopefully it doesn't require a reset or connecting to my hotspot every time I need to get the latest software.

    Thanks again!
