metric ascend
AnsweredHi Hammerhead,
I use the metric system, but the ascend is not recorded/calculated in meters. The feet just get a m but you don't do the math ft x 0,3 = m. Would be nice if you could fix that.

Hi Gunnar, In the metric system, the Ascent is expected to be displayed in meters and with "Imperial", it is expected to be displayed in feet. Just to clarify, are you referring to the real-time Ascent values displayed on the Data screen which is showing in feet even with the Metric system, or the Ascent value that you see in the Ride summary screen post-ride?
Could you also confirm if you are not using the mixed unit system under the "Settings< Measurements" and you are choosing "Imperial" itself?

Hi Hari,
the problem is, if I switch to metric system complete, it shows the ascent in meters, but the count is too high. So I looked into conversation from feet to meter (ft x 0,3 = m) and if I do the math the numbers fit.
I commute to work, so the total ascend is known. But on the first commute with the Karoo 2 the numbers didn't fit till I looked up the conversation. Since then, I ride mixed imperial/metric so that the numbers in Strava are right. -
Hi Gunnar, The issue doesn't seem to be an issue with the unit system and we suspect it could be related to the Elevation discrepancy when compared to the realistic Elevation value. As you know, the Elevation calculated on the Karoo 2 is based on the Barometric pressure and not using the GPS data. For this reason, it may vary with reality. The Barometer works based on the atmospheric pressure in the air to compute your elevation. The elevation recorded this way may be affected by weather as pressure varies throughout the day.
If you think the discrepancy is very high, could you please share the FIT files of the affected rides at support@hammerhead.io so that we can take a look at the files and see if there is anything unusual with the Elevation recordings?
