WattRamp — FTP Testing Extension
Hello everyone! 👋
I'd like to share WattRamp — an open-source FTP testing extension for Karoo.
What it does
WattRamp lets you perform FTP tests directly on your Karoo with real-time data fields during your ride.
Test Protocols
- Ramp Test (~20 min) — Power increases every minute until exhaustion. FTP = Max 1-min × 0.75
- 20-Minute Test (~60 min) — Classic 20-min max effort. FTP = Avg × 0.95
- 2×8-Minute Test (~50 min) — Two 8-min efforts. FTP = Avg × 0.90
Karoo Data Fields
9 data fields available for your ride screen:
- Current Interval (graphical 2x1)
- Target Power, Test Progress, Power Zone
- Power Deviation, Elapsed Time
- Average Power, Max 1-min Power, FTP Prediction
Features
- Configurable warmup/cooldown duration
- Ramp test start power and step increment settings
- Sound alerts and screen wake options
- Test history with FTP progress tracking
- Power zones display
- Multi-language support (EN, DE, ES, FR, IT, PT, NL, JA, ZH, RU)

Looks interesting. Just seen it in the extensions library after today’s FW update.
For the starting power and steps are these in watts or %ftp ? I’ve seen both recommended in various articles. I think I am used to 100w then +20 but I’ve also read 46% then +6%. Not sure what is the best TBH.
Thanks!

I installed this via HH extension library but couldn't operate it. It does look good so i'd be grateful for help / feedback!
I entered my current FTP and adjusted / confirmed the ramp settings eg warm up, cool down, starting level, step level.
I opened the app via extensions / open, saw my current FTP on screen, selected the ramp test and hit start. The warm up and initial steps dispalyed as expected and i followed them. I was just testing the app not actually doing an FTP test so in the third step i "gave up" and hit stop. But there was no warm down stage and no summary. Also there's no sign that this was being saved to my HH profile (and it wasn't).
As a ramp test is normally done until exhaustion, i would expect the number of steps to depend on performance during the test. Or maybe you are supposed to pedal lightly when you cant hit the power target and the protocol continues?
I'm sure i am doing it wrong, maybe i should'nt have pressed stop, but not sure how to signal that i can't continue the ramp?
On previous ramp tests i just press skip to the cool down.
Help!
Thanks

I think I’ve figured out the app. As far as I can tell you should start your ride on the Karoo before finding and starting the extension. And for the ramp test it detects when you have lost power and stops the test there. Then you need to stop the ride separately. I couldn’t find any instructions here or in the extension but didn’t take long to figure out and it works great.
Many thanks @yuri for developing it - it will be my go to FTP test from now on. Magic!

The only way i found was quite long winded:
Press top left / top right buttons together
Hit 'change profile'
Press the menu button bottom left, then extensions
The karoo OS doesn't seemed to be designed to easily go to extensions during a ride. Or maybe i've missed something?
