Karoo 3 crashes/freezes often

Hello,

I have been using the Karoo for sometime now and the device is kinda disappointing.

It froze and rebooted to the main menu already 3 times when setting up the device.

Also when zooming in and out and navigating around the map it freezes and tells me to close my profile and puts me back to the main menu. Especially zooming out 5km/miles makes the device unresponsive.

I already factory resetted the device. No extensions downloaded. Anyone else got this problem?

  Hello John,

  I am facing exactly the same issues.

  - Randomly generated frozen display when profile is activated, followed by a switch back to the main screen.

  - Frozen screen when zooming in on the map starting at zoom level 10 km, making it nearly impossible to scroll the map, followed by a switch back to the main screen.

  And it makes no difference whether the Karoo is set up as new after being reset to factory settings
  or whether additional extensions and other map styles/themes have been installed.

  Hi Net Dive,
  Thanks for confirming, good to know I’m not the only one. Hopefully Hammerhead can acknowledge this issue and provide a solution soon. I dont think it's software related but a faulty device.

  Build number here is the same: 1.608.2316.20.

  Hi John,
  I'm not sure if your assumption that it's a faulty device is the actual cause.
  I have been using the Karoo since early 2025 and have already completed several extended multi-day tours as well as numerous single-day rides with it. Prior to the last two software updates, these issues did not occur.
  From my point of view, it may be more of a software issue.
  
  Let's see if Hammerhead will address the issue and can provide more information.

  Bei mir ist das vor einigen Tagen auch passiert. Ich konnte nach einem Regen unter der Fahrt das Display nicht mehr bedienen, und zunehmend ist dann gar nichts mehr gegangen. Da ich schon mehrere Stunden unterwegs war, und ich dort nicht Ortskundig war, war das etwas lästig. Ich konnte das ganze mit einem Neustart beheben. Was auch noch passiert ist, das der 3 Sekunden Watt schnitt auf einmal eingefroren ist. Aber nur mit 3 Sekunden, 5 oder 10 Sekunden haben funktioniert. Ich denke das hat mit dem letzten Update zu tun, denn das ist vorher noch nie passiert.
