Is the Komoot limit of 50 routes a technical or legal limitation?

This is something I'd also like to know, because I find this very annoying (I have ca. 60 Komoot routes).

    Formal Comment:

The 50-route limit in Komoot appears more likely to be a technical and product-structure decision rather than a legal restriction. Many platforms implement such limits to manage server resources efficiently, maintain performance consistency, and encourage users to organize or archive older routes. In some cases, limits are also aligned with subscription-tier design rather than regulatory requirements. It would be helpful if the development team could clarify whether this cap may change in future updates or if expanded route storage is planned.

For users interested in learning how update policies and feature limits work across different apps and platforms, I’ve also found some useful general guides available at https://minecrfthouses.com/ that explain similar feature-structure decisions in a simple and accessible way.

It looks like there is no such limitation for the other route imports (e.g., Strava), so there must be something to it. Moreover, 50 is a ridiculously low number given the size of a route (a few 100 kB at most).

This is fixed! In BUILD VERSION: 1.630.2420 on April 30, 2026.

    * We no longer limit riders to 50 imported routes from Komoot. Riders can now sync up to 1000 routes.

    Thank you HH team!!!
