Offline maps unavailable
Completed-
Hi Alan, we have found this issue on the onboarding set up, but if you skip the process - there should not be a problem when downloading under the settings menu. This will be fixed in the next update.
Diego - could you please confirm if your issue is also related to the initial set up?

Hi Ali, I think so. I updated to the latest version and everything worked fine. I thought it was a good idea to reset to factory defaults (it's been a long time since I did that) and when I rebooted it was when I saw that I couldn't download the maps, so I think it's something to do with the initial setup.
Thank you very much for replying so quickly. I am reassured to know that the next update will fix this problem, I love my Karoo.

Hi Ali,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Can you just confirm what skipping the onboarding process means.
I tried skipping everything during initial setup including map selection but the problem is still there when using the settings menu to download a map.
I have tried factory reset from the menu and hard reset using buttons but still the same result.
I am using a Karoo 2 btw
When is the next update due as my karoo 2 is a paperweight atm as i use it for navigation on long rides

Good News, the support team found a workaround for the maps not downloading on the karoo 2.
Start the karoo 2, make sure you have internet connection, then log out of hammerhead account from the settings page and shut down karoo2.
Restart karoo 2 then log back into hammerhead account, you should now be able to download maps from the settings menu.
Thanks to Ankit and the support team :)

Hi Alan and Ali, I am very glad to see that you have been able to solve the problem for the Karoo 2.
I have followed your steps on my Karoo 1 and it still doesn't work, I can't download the maps. As I said in my first message I hope that finally we Karoo 1 users will have a solution to the problem.

Hi Diego, this software functionality should be the same on Karoo 1 and Karoo 2. There is no difference on how they should work or get broken for that matter.
Could you please capture a short video of what you see and share it in an email to support@hammerhead.io? If it turns out to be a large file > 25MB, share it over a drive link or photos.google.com, dropbox, or any cloud services that you prefer. Thanks.

I am having a comparable problem with my Karoo 1, which has worked perfectly until today. I have downloaded maps for the country I am in, Spain (although it took several attempts to do this). But now when I want to start a ride or follow a previously-saved route, the Karoo can't seem to locate me or produce the map for my location. When I start a ride or call up a route the K1 actually shows me a map of Madrid, but I am far away on the south coast. I've done this often before without any problems. My K1 is fully updated. I have only used 5.7 of 9.1 GB storage (maps of Norway and Spain). Tried restarting several times. Frustrating!

Same issue here, just filled the support ticket for me.
To me, it looks like a problem with how the individual apps from a handle wifi connection.
All of the apps, including sideloaded ones, are able to use the connection, but when I go to the routes, I see all of them but all have this spinning wheel, when I tap route - I get a short "no internet connectivity" or similar popup for a second. Now, popped my sim card just for a test, and all of a sudden "offline maps" show regions and countries, but still can't download the map.
*update*
it actually tries to download the map, but it's definitely something funky happening with the software or the server backend - it got 101 MB in more than 10min :D on a 300 Mbit line.
It jumps from 0 to 50 Kbps lol...
