Karoo total ascent wrong calculation.
Hello everybody.
Recently I bought a new Karoo, in replacement of my old Garmin device. All I have to say is an incredible device and Im in love with it. But have a little bug/error, that I think most of you are experience, the total ascent field (elevation gain) is wrong calculated, is adding more meters.
I opened a ticket, but the resolution was that my barometric sensor is not working well, in my opinion and after analyzing the elevation profile, I can say that the barometric sensor is working well, is not a hardware error.
After analyzing the data a reprocess the .fit files elevation data, with a python script who is recalculating the total ascent (and getting 1% of error, a big improvement vs the Karoo calculation who is bigger than 10% error), my conclusion is that the software algorithm that is calculating the total ascent in the Karoo is not filtering the sensor's noise (small variations that sensor reports, less than <1m, that are added to the total ascent field).
I open this post here, to know if more of you have the same issue, one way to know is if you have your activity uploaded to Strava, in the activity options press "Adjust Elevation", and see the diference.
Hope the developer team read this, and consider release a fix to solve this problem.
