Karoo (3) charging while riding

I have a SON dynamo hub, which feeds into a little kLite USB block. From the USB block a rear light is powered and a Nitecore NB10000 Gen4. The Nitecore has two USB-C sockets, one for "in/out" and the other for "out". The kLite is in the "in/out" and the Karoo is plugged into the other socket. When I head off for a long ride I always charge the Nitecore first.

The Karoo never charges while on a ride.

If I stop the ride, and quite the ride screen, it charges, as soon as I start a ride, it doesn't charge.

This is very frustrating when going on ultra-distance rides.

  It seems if battery saver mode is ON, the Karoo will not charge on the ride. If battery saver mode if OFF, it will charge. If this is correct, it seems strange that it doesn't charge when battery saver mode is ON.

  My bad - it seems the Karoo doesn't draw enough charge and the Nitecore NB10000 Gen4 shuts off after a few seconds.

  Is there a developer mode function on the Karoo that ensures it draws more charge?
