Hi, I had the same thing with my Karoo 1, and I tried everything too, but nobody could help me. I tried installing a new battery (not from HH), but unfortunately, it turned out to be a component on the motherboard causing the extreme heat, and that couldn't be replaced either, regrettable but true. That was regarding my Karoo 1. I've had a Karoo 3 for a while now and am satisfied. Regards, Willy Cras

Your probably going to have to change it. Write to Support, they may offer an exchange for a refurb at an exchange price.

Interesting - exact same situation here, have a Karoo 2 that worked yesterday but is dead today - charging it with a good wall charger and cable briefly showed the H logo but otherwise the unit won't turn on and gets very hot while charging.

Note on the K3 you cannot use a high-power charger (e.g. 64W)! I assume the K2 is the same if not an even lower charger (it’s not USB C so I guess you may not be using a high-power charger).
On the K3, if you use a high power charger it will also not start.
    HH said:
    - You can force reboot your Karoo by pressing the power button for 12 seconds
I think there is another option:
    - Hold top left button and power for 30 secs.
    This worked on my K3.
