Karoo 2 Shut Down in Middle of Ride

First time this has happened.  I've had the Karoo2 since beginning of February, ridden perhaps 35+/- rides with it, and have finally gotten used to it. Typically ride it on a road bike (Factor Ostro) with power spider, also HR monitor (Wahoo), Garmin Varia radar/tail-light, Ion headlight and connected to SRAM Etap.  I have used it on trips (rentals) without power ... all of these times no issues.  Today I was riding my gravel bike (GT Grade) without power (or cadence) but everything else but not connected to DI2.  Middle of the ride – I know it was recording because I use it to "turn on" my headlight – bam ... it shuts down.  It slowly rebooted on its own and allowed ride (route) resumption. The lights both stayed on during the process.  At the end of ride I followed my normal save routine and it appeared to save, and lights both turned off.  I synchronize with Strava and no ride appeared.  I had also recorded using my Apple watch and simply saved that ride. I just restarted the unit to check and indeed the route is there, but no ride.  So I lost the ride in the Hammerhead environment (no big deal, was recording on watch) but worse, I have now lost confidence in the unit.  Is this a documented bug or issue?

  Might mention that about 15 rides ago I installed a sim card to enable location services and remote download of routes.  No indication in the past rides of a conflict.
