Hardware Suggestion
You're smart folks so I'm sure someone has internally recommended it but I've never seen anyone bring it up.
On the next hardware version (Karoo3 or whatever). Blow everyone out of the water by incorporating a solar ring in the bezel like garmin has on their watches. Utilize this to increase battery life by offsetting usage while riding. These head units are facing straight up into the sun and presumably would be more effective at gathering light on them then a watch would be. Easy way to assist with the battery complaints people have. Obviously can also incorporate a sensor to adjust the backlight automatically like the garmin 830 does.

The reason that solar is so effective on Garmin watches is because they have such little power drain in the first place. Between the LCD backlight, the Android OS, and the SoC in use, the drain by a Karoo 2 is drastically higher. Solar (at the size of the panels on a bike computer) likely wouldn't help the battery that much.
What would be better in my opinion would be a more efficient SoC (not 8 years old) and a screen that was optimized for the usage of a bike computer. Something with dynamic refresh rate that could go down to a couple Hz when the image is relatively static (but keep a high refresh rate when swiping through the interface) would likely be a huge improvement. Or if you want to go really far out there, something like the new Eink color displays that have prototypes.
