Karoo 3 Unable to Pair with Companion App After iOS/iPadOS Update
Device Information
- Karoo: Karoo 3
- iPhone: [16]
- iOS Version: [27]
- iPad: [iPadOS]
- iPadOS Version: [27]
- Karoo OS Build: [Latest Firmware]
Issue Summary
Following an update of both my iPhone and iPad to the latest Apple operating system, I am no longer able to pair my Karoo 3 with the Hammerhead Companion App after reseting the Karoo 3 to factory settings.
The issue is reproducible on both devices, which suggests either a Companion App compatibility problem or a Bluetooth pairing issue between Karoo 3 and the current Apple OS versions.
Observed Behavior
The pairing process proceeds as follows:
- Open Hammerhead Companion App.
- Start phone pairing on the Karoo.
- QR code scans successfully.
- The 6-digit pairing code appears on the Karoo.
- The code is entered into the Companion App.
- Tap "Pair".
- The pairing process eventually times out and never completes.
There are no additional error messages beyond the timeout behavior.
Troubleshooting Already Performed
I have completed the following steps multiple times:
- Removed existing phone pairings.
- Logged out and back into the Companion App.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the Companion App.
- Restarted the Karoo.
- Restarted the iPhone and iPad.
- Verified that Bluetooth permissions are enabled for the Companion App.
- Reset Network Settings on the iPhone.
- Tested pairing from both an iPhone and an iPad.
- Confirmed Bluetooth is enabled on both Apple devices.
- Confirmed all devices are running the latest available software versions.
What Continues to Work
The Karoo itself appears to be functioning normally:
- Wi‑Fi connection works correctly.
- Route synchronization works.
- Dashboard synchronization works.
- Software updates download and install successfully.
- Login and account synchronization work normally.
The problem appears to be limited to Bluetooth pairing with the Companion App.
Additional Observation
Since the exact same behavior occurs on both my iPhone and iPad after updating their operating systems, and since all Wi‑Fi and cloud synchronization features continue to function normally, I suspect the issue may be related to the Bluetooth pairing process between Karoo 3 and the current iOS/iPadOS versions rather than a hardware issue with the Karoo itself.
Request
Could you please:
- Confirm whether this is a known issue with the current Companion App and recent iOS/iPadOS releases.
- Review any pairing logs associated with my account.
- Advise whether there is a beta Companion App, workaround, or upcoming fix available.
Thank you for your assistance.

If you have not done so already open a ticket with support. I also have an iPhone 16. In my case I can pair just fine but at some point(s) is the ride I will lose the connection with the companion app and can only reestablish but force quitting and restarting the app. This is different than you but there’s a relationship.
