Time to update the Android platform.

With even Zwift forcing folks to stay up to date with the android platforms? My K2 has stopped operating the Companion App for probably 3ish weeks now. Sadly that was a huge selling point for me with the K2 over the Garmin or Wahoo offerings.

Starting August 1st we will begin deprecating certain operating systems based on industry standard minimums for both the Zwift game client and the Zwift Companion app. The following operating systems will be impacted:

Zwift Game Client

• Android 7 & 8
• iOS 12
• macOS 10.12 & 10.13

Zwift Companion App

• Android 7 & 8
• iOS 11 & 12

  Hi All,

  Thanks for posting! We apologize for not answering this post earlier as we had raised this query further with our team for better clarity in our response!

  While it would be beneficial for our riders and the Karoo by upgrading the Android version on the unit, this would not be possible as it would require the realignment of several integrations on the Karoo OS (which runs on the custom android software) which may compromise the stability of the system.  

  We do not have plans of upgrading the Android version.

  Well, I really hope, that Hammerhead rethinks this plan. Not updating a Platform is not a great idea. So sideloading apps won’t be possible anymore…

  With today's update, Zwift has officially ended support for the Oreo OS (released in 2017). Maybe the K3 will run on something newer?
