Di2 support to be removed

Have we an option to retain for those customers who already have a device and just stop from future sales?

Yeah, this is terrible news. As customers we can only vote with our dollars. The only thing I use on the K2 is the nav and Di2 shifting data, so losing this is a big deal to me. I think my K2 is about to head to the recycle bin.
If you really want to vote with dollars, buy SRAM as this is 100% on Shimano. Hammerhead was only allowed to use Di2 data as part of a licensing agreement which was then pulled, not much they can do about that.

As you’ll have seen i tried to contact shimano CS and they gave just as S@%t a response to this situation as HH. We want and need to use our di2 hoods when we use any head unit, it’s a feature we really value… so what’s the solution?
Fan boys say “ditch shimano and buy sram”…
For me however it’s just easier for me to change head unit than change groupsets across my 2 road and 1 gravel bikes with di2 at this point (I’ve looked, can’t even get SRAM force etap until July or red etap here until later let alone the horrendous costs, plus changing all my wheelsets), and so like some others I’m just waiting for the comparable big screen competitor of the Garmin 1040 at this point, and hope they’ve overhauled their UI and UX.
I am simply more invested in di2 than I am HH, and sram/HH Fan boys are going to downvote me, but I’ve been here a long time K2 user myself I fully supported the beta test style constant update cycle of HH with my Karoo 2. I won’t sell my K2, like I kept my little Garmin 830 (yes horrible UX) and recently bought a wahoo bolt (so small) to play with.

I'm wondering if there is a software solution. If you use the Xert app on HH, you get extra fields you can add to your profile screens such as your MPA (https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/1260804107729-Karoo-2-Xert-App). I'm wondering if there is a way to create an Android app to read the DI2 data and expose the data we lost as fields. If HH could open source the previous code, i'm sure there are a few developers on here (i'm an ex-developer) that might be able to pull this off. The only issue is that DI2 is on closed ANT and i'm not sure how you get access to the protocol. I also know you have to be certified to be ANT compatible but if it's an open source app, this might be a workaround?

“... legal contracts clearly dictate the actions required ...”, what a load of bovine fecal matter. I’m 99.9999% sure there was nothing in the contract that required Shimano to terminate the contract under the circumstances (may have opened an opportunity to do so though), but rather it was totally a choice on their part.

I haven't had time to read all the posts here, but we all are in the same boat. Shimono decided to have a pissy fit, pack up their toys and leave the Hammerhead/SRAM party and now we're all "stuck" with a bike PC that even though it might now, per Hammerhead, have a tiny percentage of its functionality is lost, it's 100% of our problem (those of us who use the Di2 integration anyway).
I asked Hammerhead for an appropriate Shimono contact email to write to Shimono with my concerns and was given this email address: bikeservice@shimano.com After writing Shimono, here's the boilerplate response I got back from them:
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback we have no further information at this time.

Where in this action by Shimono to request removal of Di2 functionality from our head unit is Shimono adhering to its own mission statement 😳

;;; Sigh ::: What I do not see here so far (or enough of it if I've missed it) in all our echo chamber "thread energy outrage" is it being directed at the company that is at the heart and fault for this whole mess... Shimano!

Agree. My Karoo 2 have now become a legacy device as it can not be updated without loosing the core functionality. Can't really recommend it to anyone until they solve the Di2 issue. If they are not solving it, the Garmin 840 will be the replacement. Why even bother with a device that can not be (without loosing core functionalities) updated?
Offtopic, seems like there a plenty of Karoo 2 on the flebay and since the awful announcement.

Has much changed here?
Slowly getting used to the weird UI of my Garmin 1040. Does everything I need it to do and lots more (almost the problem). My K2 sits in drawer with an 830 plus…
That said I’d love a triumphant return… “we’ve resolved contractual terms with Shimano and can support DI2”… but it seems awfully silent on that front.

I've now been using the Edge 1040 for about 2 weeks and was having the same exact thought yesterday! Since getting an Edge 1040, my K2 sits on the bench next to my Edge 530.For me, the Di2 withdrawal from the K2 was the last straw. IF the K2 had crash detection as has been promised for like EVER, I would have held out a bit longer (the CLIMBER function on the K2.is still superior to the 1040 IMO).
I'm not in any rush to sell the K2 because I'm still hoping for a miracle, but I'm telling you the Garmin is a pretty awesome feature packed unit just on battery length of charge and screen legibility in bright sunlight alone!

I'm a Mac user and found quite tricky to install the app via Terminal. Instead I've used an app called adblink and it worked beautifully. Now I have all the Di2 integrations functions back on my Karoo2. Still have to try them on the road but it looks like it's working perfectly fine.
