Portable Battery Charger During A Ride
Hi K2 Users,
I have some very long rides coming up during the Ride The Rockies tour this weekend. Two of those rides are over 110 miles and I know the K2 battery will not last this long. I have done a few 80+ mile rides and when done had maybe 20% left. I have a couple of portable chargers to test out over the next couple days.
Anyone have experience is doing this??

Hi Gerry,
rode a 200 km gravel-route last month. Total time 9.15 hours. Had a small 2600 mAh battery with me that doubled as a power bank and an earbud case. Had it charging the K2 from the start and it was sucked dry about 5-6 hours in. It also was charging one earbud as I am rotating them while listening to podcasts. The rest of the trip was no problem for the K2. Connected sensors were Garmin Rally, Wahoo TICKR, Garmin Varia, Garmin Speed Sensor, iPhone 12. Routing (komoot file) was active all the time and mostly I had the map display on because I didn´t knew the route. Display brightness about 50%. No audio cues because I find them annoying.Hope this helps.

Recently I have done a 200km road ride (roughly 7 hours time in movement/9 hours overall) at the end of which my K2 was left at slightly below 20%.
On another gravel ride of around 220km (I think it was roughly 11 hours ride time, 13 hours overall) I had been charging the K2 for an hour or so mid-ride with a 10000 mAh power bank and ended up at a comfortable 30%.
For trips like these, I typically follow a route on my K2 with the map screen active and brightness set to 40% and heart rate sensor + phone connected.HTH
