No popup map before turns coming in the near future.
CompletedJust asked them about a possible pop-up map before turns. Got this answer:
“I completely understand that the ability to switch to the map screen automatically in the event of a turn could be a valuable enhancement for us to add. I have added your vote for these feature requests while forwarding it to the Product team.
This feature is not in the immediate plans as of now but if we receive more requests from the riders for the same feature, the product team will prioritise it. I am sorry that I do not have a concrete timeline to share with you right now.”
Very disappointing, to say the least. Especially since people have been asking for it for over a year now.

Hi All,
We have now introduced Switch To Map: when following a route or navigating to a Pin, Karoo can now automatically switch to your map screen when approaching a maneuver. Turn this feature on from Turn-By-Turn Settings in your Profiles.
- See the help article here for more information on how this feature works.
Thank you!

Yeah, just using the directions might work if the road network (or at least its OSM representation) is really simple and you only have intersections with 90-degree angles, but for everything else you definitely need the map as a backup. Personally I’m fine with just leaving a map+data fields page on screen permanently whenever I actually need navigation, but I totally understand that this feature would be helpful for others.

I'm no techie, but it can't be that hard to programme.
This topic comes up again and again. Not sure how many people need to ask for it for them to actually do anything about it.
By the time they get round to it someone else will have caught up with the rest of the things that make it good. And I will have bought that instead.
I sent mine back due to this very reason when there was a 40day trial. Been waiting eagerly ever since.

I think the Karoo 2's absolute standout feature is its map navigating. K2 and Garmin's products have their own pros and cons but Hammerhead absolutely nail this part of the equation.
So quite why this wasn't in to start with, and why it's still missing AND a low priority update is quite bemusing, utterly confounding actually.
+1 to OP and to HH, please add this and play to your strengths.

If Hammerheads receive more requests???
User's have been constantly asking for this but Hammerhead refuse to listen. It seems Hammerhead are very keen on flashy updates that look good on social media but refuses too implement the basics that other cycling GPS units have as standard .
