Vari RTL510 Radar/Light Doesn't Turn On Anymore
AnsweredHi,
With my Karoo I have a paired Bontrager Ion 200 RT front light, as well as a Garmin Varia RTL510 Radar/Rear-Light, both using ANT+ (have bluetooth totally disabled for sensors). For the Varia, it has two sensors paired, the light and the radar separately, with the light above the radar in the sensor list. Previously it would automatically turn on both lights in the configured mode when I started a ride, which is super convenient. At some point in past week it stopped turning on the rear Varia light, and consequently also does not connect to the radar. It does still turn on the friont Ion light just fine. I have tried various things but can't make sense of why it suddenly stopped working. If I manually turn on the light, it immediatekly connects to the radar as well. From the flashing blue light on the Varia (when the light is off), it should be in a mode ready to be paired with the Karoo or other bike computer. And when the light is off and no ride has been started, if I go in the sensor list it shows it detects the light and lists it as "Connected", the radar sensor is grayed out though.
One more clue, when I end the ride and if I have manually turned on the Varia light, it also doesn't automatically turn it off. It does tuoff the Ion light.
So other than the fact that it no longer automatically turns on the light, everything else seems to be working. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.

Hi,
Not sure what happened, but removing the radar sensors (both radar and light) and re-pairing just the same as before fixed it.
Now when the radar is "off" but blue LED's flashing to indicate it is connectable, both the radar light AND radar sensors show connected in the Karoo 2 sensor list. And both the front and back lights turn on when you start a ride, and off when you end the ride.
Cheers.

Hi Saad,
Normally just by re-pairing the light can solve this issue. (Please try this once)
And also its important to make sure that the lights are also running on the latest firmware so that they function even better with many more features updated by the company.
If there is any sensor issue it would affect the other sensors connectivity as well. Which seems to be okay in this case.
I hope this will be able to solve the issue.
