The back panel with the garmin style.mount still seems to be there? What happened, did it vibrate loose, rotate.90 degrees and pop off? Did you not have the leash on your handle bars so that if the mount failed the device would be left hanging from your bar?

the garmin mount was on my k-edge mount when the Karoo 2 launches itself. the base plate came off, and lost, I was turning left on a busy junction, so the speed is very low, but the road has potholes (UK roads). I think the base plate broken off, with the screws still in place. I forgot use the leash, otherwise I would not lost the base plate, but still resulting the Karoo launched itself to the ground.

Garmin mounts are designed for watch sized devices. They are a compromise.

I put the tether on and have added a rubber band. But I also carry a tube and tools.

     The new mount seems inspiring

The same thing happened to me on a MTB ride / crash. I sent a message to Karoo and they send me the replacement parts within a couple days.   Customer service was great.
