Garmin Speed Sensor Speed Display Issue

I am having issues when in-ride, with the speed displayed on the K2. During the ride at random times the speed displayed will drop, as an example from 20mph to 9mph for a few seconds then revert back to the 20mph.

I have tried two different Garmin speed sensors with both, whilst connected via ant+ and BLE exhibiting the same odd behavior. N.B. Auto calibration on wheel circumference still doesn't work so both have been using whilst in manual.

I have sent numerous FIT files to support who seem to think its the sensors the problem but it seems to be a recent thing since the last or previous firmware update and its 2 sensors exhibiting the same issue.

Anyone else experience the odd behavior, is there an issue with the firmware or the sensor, who knows....

I have seen this problem when out riding. It was caused by the battery in the sensor being low. Replacing the battery fixed the problem. I think the erratic display is a result of the speed being calculated from the GPS signal. This can be lost briefly, for example when riding under trees. If replacing the battery doesn't fix it then I suspect it's probably a sensor problem.
