Karoo 2 seems not to be ready for MTB....and looks that will take long time.
One of the reasons that I bought Karoo 2 as a bike computer was the simplicity to understand and work with it , togheter with the beautiful screen. As a recent road biker after many years on MTB It seemed glorius computer that will pair nice with my Suunto watch....antd trainning peaks now......for my workouts road trainning....I was a bit worried about the battery capacity for my long days or MTB trips and the problems when there is no Internet conectivity.....But I could not imagine , that such a basic feature as countour lines will be lacking, So real decicions will be hard to take sometimes when routes on the go are need it. The other basic feature is the rerouting that is clear that for MTB does not work properly. MTBkrs I think want simpllicity on their GPS computer, and I thought the Karoo 2 is not ready, and does not want to work seriously into it...
I asked HH and they told me that they will look at the sugestions when they focus on MTB.......
I AM ASKING HH ¿ IS THERE A DATE THAT they WILL WORK SERIOUSLY REAL MTB DEVELOPMENT?
OR ALWAYS WILL BE A ROAD BIKE COMPUTER.
Than you

Look at t’has new feature
Introducing Breadcrumb RoutingBreadcrumb Routing is a new navigation preference added as an option when you select a route from your routes list. This mode is designed for anyone who needs to follow a route that deviates from underlying road or trail data, as the normal “follow route” function on Karoo relies on the underlying map data supporting the route.
Additional notes on the new behavior:
Karoo will still be able to tell you if you’re on or off route
Follow as breadcrumb will not have turn-by-turn guidance.
Upcoming elevation will only appear when you are on the breadcrumb trail.
CLIMBER will not work when following a route as a breadcrumb trail.
The breadcrumb trail shows a solid yellow polyline to represent the route.
When you are on the breadcrumb route, the route will have chevrons.
Note: Chevrons will not appear at all zoom levels.
Improved Support for Long Routes
We have added the ability to load and follow long routes (200+ miles).
When you load a long route, our routing engine will break up the route into 200 mile segments.
When you are halfway through a segment, it will load the next segment. The rider will always be able to see a minimum of 100 miles ahead on their route.
Direction cues, Upcoming Elevation, CLIMBER and re-routing will only work on the current “segment” being navigated.
Riders will not be able to “Reverse” a long route. You will need to reverse the route from your routes source and re-sync the new reversed route to Karoo.
I did not tried myself but it looks really nice.
I have to say that my son last October did make a very difficult traverse at this time of the year just using the Karoo 2 and he told me was fine Hiigland trail in Scotland. Sometimes the trail was fime.
I think breadcrumb should be very good. -
There is no way to create a route when offline.
No way to load GPX tracks and show them on the map.
No GPX tracks or points manager.
No way to transfer a route or track directly from the phone.
The trail labels are too small.
The trail widths are too thick, or in some cases, too thin.Current track is too thick

I believe It is really a downward that you cannot transfer files from the phone to the karo 2 unit without internet connection . In the same position are many apps for creating tracks that need to have internet connection too.
I tnink You can create a path from scratch in the unit , but the maps don’t have contour lines. You solve that using for ej Komoot and then i they are linked HAVING internet connection on is ok , I think is the same for importing gpx files , you can also use dashboard hammerhead ….
