What are Hammerhead Extensions?

  • Hammerhead Extensions enables third-party developers to build experiences for Hammerhead bike computers utilizing an Android software development kit (SDK).

What devices are Hammerhead Extensions supported on?

  • The new Hammerhead Extensions repository (karoo-ext) will be supported on the new Karoo and Karoo 2 devices. Apps built for Karoo 2 on the previous SDK repository (karoo-sdk) will continue to be supported on Karoo 2 devices.

How do I build a Hammerhead Extension?

  • You can find more information about how to build an Extension on GitHub.

What Android apps will work on my Hammerhead?

  • Karoo works with many Android apps, but there are some limitations. Apps that require Google Play services may not work properly on Karoo. Hammerhead devices are not Google Play Certified devices.

What support is available for Hammerhead Extensions?

  • Hammerhead does not provide support for the development of third party applications for our devices. Third party’s are responsible for the development of their applications. We have created a Hammerhead Developers community forum for developers to interact with each other to support and help each other with the development of Hammerhead Extensions. You can find a link to the community here.
