Dec. 2022 Map Update
My K2 is offering a map update which I've been declining for days now. I've got automatic firmware updates set to "off" as I'm doing everything possible to stay locked at the final May 2022 Di2-supported version.
Is there any danger in doing the map update and inadvertently ending up with new firmware too? I'm nervous about letting it update the maps only to see "We need to upgrade your firmware to take advantage of new map features" or something to that effect.
Should it all go horribly awry I know I can sideload the 3rd party Di2 app. but I'm not needing that with my current firmware level and I'd like to keep it that way until there's new features that I see as "must-haves".
Cheers!

I was in a similar dilemma, having not updated since May to retain Di2.
I hesitated for a while, suspicious that Hammerhead may disingenuously update the device firmware as well as the map but my confidence was boosted after seeing each update required it's own procedure. I updated the map via the map update notification and avoided pressing the device firmware update notification at all costs :)

Thanks Tiago and Jim! Here in Canada we're firmly into indoor riding season so I'm in no hurry to tamper with the K2's operational status for the next little while but it's great to know the map files at least can be altered through official channels without losing OEM Di2 functionality. Beyond maps I haven't read of a single change in firmware that's in any way a "must-have" for my purposes so leaving it alone is the best option.

Likewise. If they had rolled out predictive climber after dropping Di2 that would've presented a major dilemma. Since May none of the 'features', bug fixes, sensor display shuffling or profiles and Control Centre tweaks have warranted any update even if I were not a Di2 user. Plus with any update comes associated risks of breaking something that wasn't broken :)
