Charles, his team, Israel Premier Tech, currently use the Karoo2 as their cycling computer!

    Steve
thanks for the information. However, note the size of the screen and the black border margin, especially at the bottom is smaller than in the K2.
It's quite possible that they already have and are testing K3?

I've sent that picture to Hari in november and he didn't confirm or deny.
And yes it looks like the bezel at the bottom is smaller but I think the images is somewhat flaky.

I don't think its a K3 because then the team would be using it already for 5 months and still we didn't see any pics of it for real? I don't think so.

The riders of Team Israel are pro's, get a lot of media attention so I would have expected to see more "leaks" if it was a new K3.

@Neal this kind of front facing camera would be cool, but i think it might probably have too high toll on battery life from practical POV

    - solar panel under screen
    - ability to configure dashboards/everything via WEB or via phone app.
    - more original Karoo2 mounts in shop
    - silicon cover included (like a Tuff luv cover for Karoo2)

You mean higher temps with a new cover? That would be welcome, it is a cold April

    Hello,
    my wish-list for an Karoo3:

    • Bigger display, better contrast
    • NO SOLAR, because worse contrast and brightness (see Garmin Tests!), by disappointing energy winning (max 5%) and much more expensive.
    • Smaller, individual styling Cases, more power by longer battery life (new technology)
    • Please design a bracket with connectable (or integrated) power bank for individual rides with longer battery life (if possible, integrated the solar in the bracket?)
    • Other languages for example Germany (Europe)
    • All other look by wahoo or Gamin to be on the top and competitive.

    Thank you…

You're probably a bit late with the wishlist, the K2 has been out ages. The specs for the K3 would have been finalised ages ago, I'd probably expect them to release the K3 soon/this year.

It's very simple from a bikepacking, long distance rider who does at least 8 hours in the saddle each day: IMPROVE BATTERY LIFE, or at least optimise the apps to use as little resources as possible Nobody going on a month long trek through remote areas has the ability to charge the Karoo 2 at the end of each day. Getting 2 to 3 days out of each charge would be a complete game changer and something everyone is crying out for. When cycling power outlets are had to come by, and when bikepacking in remote areas even more so. The App could have an "extreme battert saver" mode just like Android to shut down everything but the essential to help you navigate where to where you are gonna sleep next!

Hammerhead could even provide two modeals of the Karoo3. The normal one and then one that could be marketed as "Karoo 3 Endurance" etc which focuses on battery life as most important thing just as latest Garmins have realised how critical this is to people who do long distance day by day cycling.

I’d love to see solar capabilities (similar to the Garmin) which would greatly improve the battery life

the K2 has a hardware clock cycle issue. It is very constrained when using API calls from external sensors such as side loaded apps like Ki2 and even the garmin tail light. both of these are quite sluggish to react compared to what happens on a garmin 1040. This needs a huge update to bring a smoother experience.

Live tracking feature to be paired with the Bluetooth on your phone. I shouldn’t need to pair it to a wifi hotspot or put in a SIM card to utilize the live tracking feature

    SOLAR CHARGING
This is already necessary now, especially for tourism and long distances and adventures, because unforeseen events can always happen on the road and in that case the battery is always a constant anxiety and unbearable stress.

solar charging is a marketing issue. Look at the DCRAINMAKER review and you will see how the solar Garmin only takes a few minutes out of a lot of hours. In addition, the screen looks very dark in solar models.

What is needed is a more efficient processor. My Samsung S22+ with exynos did not finish the day, and my S23+ with Snapdragon, I do almost 2. I do bikepacking and the solution is a small powerbank. For day to day, the autonomy of the Karoo is correct.

Solar's just extra cost for a bigger bezel.  Maybe in a few years when in screen OLED-solar *might* become available, it'll be worth pursuing.

Needs a bigger, better quality battery.

Needs OS update to Android 12+ (8 is a disaster).

    Needs a new mount.

Those are the really big issues, besides software.

dcrainmaker reported half an hour additional runtime per 2:20h of sunny ride oder 4h of mostly cloudy weather. I think this is quite a lot. When I did very long rides it was usually in summer in the alps where there is a lot of sun. And if my Edge 705 would not have run out of battery after 10 hours but lasted 2hours longer I could have recorded the whole ride and hat navigation until the end.

Nowadays I do not do such long rides anymore but it sure is not a useless feature. Whether it is feasable on a karoo like device is another question. Somebody would have to manufacture a display capable of that.

Please put a battery in that does 15 hours with ak specs and sensors in use. Perhaos battery save mode to 20 hours and no solar option needed.

read couple reviews on solar, the bottom line is it adds very little extra time, better to put bigger battery and save space and money on usless solar gimick

I don't know if anyone has already noticed the design that is implemented in the Data Label option, but this will not be a presentation of what the Karoo 3 could be. In fact, the design is quite different in terms of the location of the buttons. Who knows!!!

Karoo3 must have an important improve on the battery life time.

I would like to have on dashboard features, the possibility to manage the Karoo profiles.

    Any new rumors? ;-)

Improved battery life with improved overall performance (startup time etc.) at the same time would be my top priority feature!  But idk whether I'd pay another 400 EURs just for this!

    My wishlist:

    - thinner and lighter
    - increased battery
    - no sim card
    - Bluetooth connection + live tracking
    - faster startup
    - a good barometer that doesn’t mess up the total elevation gain as many Karoo 2s
    - lap button on the bottom

Hammerhead cannot even get shipping correct, of late. They completely screwed up the customs declaration on my latest order and cost me extra money. I don't think they are hiring the brightest or the best. And they have zero accountability. Not what I am looking forward to in an investment of more money in the future.

David, we have received your ticket and your case will be taken care of, do not worry. If you had to pay extra, you will be refunded for that. All the shipments including the customs declarations are handled by warehouse and not by any Hammerhead staff members. Rest assured, your issue will be sorted in the correct way. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    definetly:

extended batery holder from the bottom of the cycle computer holder - idealy compatible with AXS battery connector

battery holder on standard battery(2x18650, 2x21700) which can be charged on AXS charger.

extending cable, so I can use this holder also on bike for feeding the rear derailleur.(+ some nice holder of "battery holder" on seat stay or chain stay)

So what will force me buy K3 is integration to SRAM enviroment, hardware and software

this will absolutely annul, delete biggest advantage of competitors in battery life, so I will not have any reason to buy Garmin again

A faster and more energy efficient processor. Much better battery life (>18h).

    More choices with screen layouts.

Size is fine but a smaller bezel

Probably a good idea to use a more recent version of Android underneath and perhaps allow a true App Store integration or have a sideloader build in.

There is a work around online that can be side loaded but its not SRAM/Hammerheads fault.

Integration at the expense of Google Play Store, Play Services and bloatware running in the background eating battery. No thanks, I'll take side-loading every time
