Hi Tom, this feature does exist and the device will shut down after 2 hours of inactivity.

@Ali, if it does exist, I don't think it currently works.  I tested the unit by leaving it on but with no activity (in-door, no gps reception as a result, and no other sensor connected to it) overnight.  The unit was still on when I woke up 7 hours later.  Battery drain was pretty good though--still had 46% of the charge remaining.

Also, 2hr seems excessive for the unit to shut off by itself.  If it doesn't detect GPS movement and any on screen activity or button presses, and not actively recording a workout, I think it should just shut off in 15 mins or so.

Not sure what wrong with your unit and we can test this again. Next time can you if you see a dimmed backlight after 2 hours. This particular issue was fixed in the last release.

agree! Karoo doesnt turn off automatically. Forgot these days to shut off and the next day Battery was empty!

Even with the actual newest firmware not: 1.187.789.712. Device is now 4 hours laying around and only display is off. Tested now!

My unit was empty in the morning. Just came to search for auto shut off function. Good to see it exists, although I could not find any setting related to it. However with current firmware 1.189.994.12 the auto shut off feature should have kept my headunit charge, but it did not. I can only conclude it did not activate. Will leave unit on and see in the morning again.

Unfortunately, I observe the same - Karoo2 doesn't shut down automatically after 2 hours.

Also, I agree, that 2 hours is too long. In my opinion, considering high standby battery drain, 30-60 minutes of inactivity should trigger auto-shutdown.

Hope to see a fix soon.

Just a thought but do you have sideloaded apps? Perhaps the sideloaded apps running in the background and preventing the auto shutdown.

Also indoors if recording, you're likely to see erratic GPS thus potentially making it look like it's moving around the house/into the garden etc as GPS signal is gianed and lost with very low degrees of accuracy.

Referring back to my original post 2 days ago. I did a couple of test on my unit with firmware 1.189.994.12 and I can conclude that the auto shut down indeed works. I tested multiple times leaving the unit display on idling with sensors active including GPS and the unit shuts itself down. Checked after a few hours (did not measure the time). Battery drained I noticed ca 10% after unit was turned on again.

Is this auto-shutdown feature also active when the screen is turned off? I've turned just the screen off after rides and then noticed a full power up the next time I use the device, but couldn't find any info on the expected behaviour.
