Auto-Pause Takes Too Long To Kick In

Indoors, there's probably enough GPS error to make it think you're still moving faster than 1.0mph.

Try it outside with good GOS signal, or inside with a speed sensor. I've never had a problem with auto-pause.

    *GPS, not GOS. Fat thumbs...

Natural GPS accuracy/spikes can think you doing over 1 mph, I set mine to 3mph on road rides and 2 mph on gravel/mtb rides and have no issues.

Even with garmins, they used to constantly beep due to autopause turning on/off when sat down at cafe stops if the autopause was set to low.

Hmm, tried it again, still indoors and this time it auto-paused almost immediately.

Thanks for the feedback, will try outdoors.

    Hi Saad!

I just wanted to chime in - Mark and Derbyshire are correct. A weak GPS signal will cause your "location" to drift which will register as you're moving. This will happen more often/severely indoors, in heavily forested areas, canyons, or anywhere that your clear view of the sky is obscured.

You shouldn't see nearly the lag in your outdoor tests. Have a great day!

Thanks. Since then I have increased auto-pause to 3mph, also kept an eye on it in indoor tests and you're right I do see drift. But not enough to go over the Auto-Pause value. I can't prove it but what I believe was happening in my test originally was that there was NO GPS lock, and no speed sensor nearby, so the speed field registered no value, not even 0. It took a long time to pause because eventually it did get a GPS lock and then register a speed of 0. At that point the auto-pause logic kicked in and the ride was paused. In subsequent tests I see to have a GPS lock much quicker and it auto-pauses almost immediately.

Seems like an edge case at best. What do people think? Does that sound plausible?

    Cheers.
