Karoo 2 New Users - Do not press bottom 2 buttons with 1 finger during ride if using Garmin Mount
AnsweredI was super excited to receive the Karoo 2 last Friday. My bike has an Enve aerobar with an integrated mount, and there is not enough room to add the native mount. I decided to use the Garmin mount.
I wore full length glove as it is 47F at start, and exactly 5 seconds into the ride, I realized i have not started the computer. I pressed the side button to start with my index finger, with thumb on top of the unit. I was completely caught off-guard as the entire unit rotated and popped out of the mount, and the Karoo 2 fell onto the ground at 15 mph.
Never in my cycling in the last 5 years have any units rotated off the mount during a ride, as all are snug fit. The Karoo 2 still functions perfectly, but cosmetically, it is in worse shape than any head units I have had (Garmin or Wahoo) with deep scratches everywhere.
I am super disappointed and frustrated at this design flaw - the provided mount should be able to handle the torque from one finger pressing the side button. The Garmin adaptor simply needs to be far more snug when fitted to a Garmin mount.
Let my lesson save you the headache of seeing you 5-second-new unit destroyed on the ground if you choose to use the Garmin mount for whatever reason:
1) If you fingers are exposed, just use the touch screen
2) If you were full length glove where the touchscreen may not pickup your taps, press the side button but make sure you use another finger to whole on the other side so there is a net 0 torque around the mount.

It is a known issue that the HH is wobbly in all mounts. But there is a lanyard delivered with the Karoo2 Package, so USE it!
In addition you can use 22 mm rubber rings, that you attach to the base plate adapter (https://www.amazon.co.uk/sourcing-map-Rings-Nitrile-Diameter/dp/B07GK2BKL7)

Hey Albert,
I can completely understand your point of view here, We did in fact get a lot of similar reports on this and we went back to the drawing board to make things right :) You can refer to this forum post: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/1260801368729-Wobbly-Quarter-turn-Adapter-
User has provided a decent solution for your wobbly quarter turn adapter issue :) Our hardware team as well approves :)

I had a similar issue with an old, non GPS, computer. It popped off its mount and under the wheel of a passing car. I'd never use an expensive GPS computer without using a leash. The Karoo 2 comes with one, and the setup guide encourages you to use it. I made one for my Elemnt as it didn't come with one. When it eventually pops off the mount, and my Wahoo has, it hangs from the handlebars by the leash / tether.
