Defaulting back to home screen on a ride
AnsweredDoes anyone else have a problem with their Karoo2 defaulting and switching back to the home screen during a ride. Its really annoying and I cant figure out how to stop it - was never a problem with my original Karoo.
I get out to ride and have a nice information screen with speed, distance, ride time, etc displayed and then within 30-60 secs, it switches back to the home screen. I toggle back to the info display and then within 30-60 secs its back on home again!!! I mean why would I want it on home when I am out riding anyway?!
I have looked through the menus and cant see an obvious setting for this anywhere. Can anyone help?

I had the exact same problem in one of my initial rides two updates ago. They looked at my ride file and said had identified the problem and it would be fixed in subsequent updates, but didn't say explicitly what the issue was. At the time I was advised to do a factory reset and pair sensors again. There was also a suggestion to create a new profile which I did not do because I thought factory reset sounded easier. The factory reset restored everything but the sensors. In three (I think) rides since then, one before any new updates and two since the two subsequent updates, hasn't happened again. The profile that gave me issues, I have haven't used again actually, so it MAY still be corrupted for all I know. The one I have used since was created after the ride where I had the issue.
Of the two updates since, the change notes included the following that looked that it might be related, it is only mentioned in the latest update though 1.200.1016.3:
- Fixed a bug that could cause a ride to be erased while still recording if a sensor disconnected at certain times.
Cheers.

I had this issue yesterday on my first ride with my new K2. It was driving me batty randomly dropping back to the main screen. 10 miles of troubleshooting, stopping to try and search the forum from my cell phone and removing devices, etc before I finally figured out what was causing it for me. In setting the unit up I was playing around with the top profile that came pre-setup. I changed the layouts, added screens, etc. I also added a 2nd map screen with different data than what was displayed on the original one. When I switched profiles after one of the dumps back to the main page I selected a different profile that had limited screens and data and rode quite a ways without being dumped out. That's when it hit me that something was different and went back to edit the original profile. I decided to start removing screens until it worked and when I removed the 2nd map page with elevation to come on the bottom it never dropped out again after that.
I never did any resets or removed any of my sensors and it never lost any of my ride data during this. My theory is there is some memory issue with more than one map running in the same profile but I don't know enough to say for sure. I also am so new I don't know if this is the same issue reported here.

on the initial setup under profile1 when I was playing around with it I didn't know what I was doing. I was editing the profile and got to the screen where I could add a screen (+). It gave me the option to chose a map layout when I did this. Like I've said, I'm a brand spanking new user and didn't know you weren't supposed to be able to do this. I'll play with it some more today and see if I can create a new profile and have it allow me to add more than one map screen.

Hey All,
Looks like you have stumbled across a rare glitch that occurs on the Karoo while creating or editing a profile. Users would continue to be diverted back to the main screen of the Karoo as the profile ends up getting corrupted. As you have rightly found out removing the additional map page would resolve the issue.
As the rides do crash during such scenarios, we are working on optimizing the software a bit further and hence we are holding back on having a dual map setup on the profiles :)
