BUG: Destination reached remains stuck even before start of a route
AnsweredHi,
I discovered a bug yesterday. I planned a roundtrip route with start and Ending points close to where I live and close to each other. I imported it into the Dashboard.
I then started from home and launched K2 with that route and got in direction of the starting point. The Ending point was probably closer than the starting point so K2 said Destination reached and while it recognized the route and showed the arrows on it - no further direction popups or signals where given ...
The Destination reached could not be dismissed and rerouting if I left the route did also not work ... (even though then loud beeps where sounded).
I hope the description helps ... can provide GPX or ride URL

Karoo has "Route to start", Edgar:

I've never had what Frank is describing before and I start and end all of my rides from home. I suspect there may be some sort of issue with the planned route you imported into the Dashboard.
Might be worth sharing the URL of the route so we can take a look at it.

Hi,
yeah I use routes where I start from home almost daily with no issues ... I guess there normally the start comes earlier than the end of the route and then everything works ...
Here is the link to the route .. https://dashboard.hammerhead.io/routes/21633.route.0a63f4f2-7896-4597-ac1a-96a20c203976 and for reference my home is in the town just top right of the start.
It might also be interesting that I didn't enter the side-way to the beginning and end - it just took it while I was approaching it.

This is crazy annoying, and happens very often for me. I start the ride just outside my front door with a lot of buildings around, so I guess the GPS signal is bouncing around a bit, indicating that I'm moving. But still.... there should be an algorithm that understands that I can't possibly have completed a 90k route in a few seconds.

Hello all!
I'm sorry you had that frustrating experience with your route!
It does sound like the issue was that the start and end were very close and you approached and passed the end before you hit the start. The Karoo 2 "joined" at the point you hit the route, so it ran the route from there - handy when you start a route from a km or 2 in, but I can see how it would be tedious in this context!
If it happens again, the easiest thing to do is to first remove the route by using the Quick Action Menu and selecting "remove route". Once you are at the start point, or a few meters in, use the Quick Action Menu again and select "add a route" to start the route over and go.

I understand the workaround, Jami, but as Ola says you should implement some sort of algorithm that determines that it would be impossible to complete a 90km route in a few seconds. You use a standard average speed to calculate time to destination; you should be able to use that same average speed to determine that the route cannot have completed within n minutes of starting.
I experienced this a little myself yesterday but - thankfully - the yellow chevrons on the route line guided me along the correct route rather than along the final leg of my route back to my starting point.
