Speed sensor stopped working
AnsweredDuring a ride my speed went to 0 and the Karoo 2 went in autopause mode. The cadance was normal and I was still moving on the map. I tried rebooting but it didn't help. Switching of the sensor did. I was moving again. I still don't know if the sensor (Garmin, old model) is broken. The connection is working otherwise the cadance wouldn't work.
Isn't it logical to switch from the speed sensor to the gps is there is something wrong with the connection? The Karoo knows I'm moving but doesn't show it. I can understand that there is an delay, although there could be a permanent check from the gps. That could also solve the speed and distance errors! But why do I have to switch of the sensor manually?

Same thing happened for me too recently -- I thought I had escaped the worst of the sensor pairing issues by getting my Karoo 2 more recently, but it started acting up and autopausing on my last two rides. I just replaced the battery in my speed sensor just in case, hopefully that fixes it.
That said -- 100% agree that it shouldn't be hard to implement a hierarchy for determining whether to go into autopause or not, falling back on GPS if needed. In fact I was coming here to post this only to see you've beaten me to it!

Reporting back on my battery change -- I did a couple of long rides (80 and 70 miles) where it was fine -- and then yesterday the sensor dropped out again.
It's a cheap sensor (Magene) so I don't know if the Karoo is really to blame for the drop out, but I'd definitely reiterate that, at least for purposes of determining an autopause, I would really prefer for there to be a cross check of both the sensor reading and the GPS speed so that I'm not losing a significant part of my ride not noticing.
I can confirm that my speed sensor was also above the GPS in my sensor list.
