Screen won't stay turned off during pause

I have seen this before when I am at a rest stop. There is a conflict between battery save mode and turning the screen off manually. If you turn off battery save mode first, you can then turn off the screen with the long press of button B. I think what is happening is when your are stopped for your break at a cafe, your are slightly off course and your Karoo will wake up the screen to reroute you back on course.

ha! good find. I'll verify that on my next ride. Still a workaround though and something that probably ought to be fixed. When the ride is (auto-)paused, and battery saver is on, the screen should turn off after a brief delay.

bluppfisk, I agree and I think manually shutting off the screen should take priority over battery save mode's design to wake up the screen for notifications and navigation turns. I have ridden with battery save mode off and the screen turned off and used Bluetooth audio for notifications and navigation instructions. I then turn on the screen with a button push if I need to see the information. Using it that way will probably give you 15-20 hours of battery life!

Here is a video that I took back in April that shows how turning off battery save mode will allow you to manually shut off the screen while at a rest stop. https://photos.app.goo.gl/YJ5uthDe6zTRYXP79

Cheers Johnny, I'll try that. In the video I see AZ screen recorder. Did you sideload that using ADB? :)

@bluppfisk, I sideloaded Apkpure then used the Apkpure app store to sideload the rest of my apps.
