    ... same question here - what are the limitations if we stay with your K2.

    ... the only benefit I´ll see is the better CPU-Performance 1.1 > 2.0 GHz and more RAM/Flash.

    ( ... I think the little higher Battery-Capacity will consumed through the higher CPU-clock )

    ... it seems that there is no chance für the new companion app ;-(

    A while back, talking with support about sim card not working, they texted me this:

    “We understand that this has been a suggestion to bring Bluetooth data tethering to the Karoo 2. We are working to develop that functionality along with a companion app for iOS and Android. I do not have a release date yet, but it is on the roadmap for development! […]”

    So it would be very annoying to hear that K2 finally won’t get compatibility with the companion app

    ... I´m not sure - but perhaps that´s a general restriction of the actual Bluetooth implementation.

    ... on the other hand - they want to sell their new product ;-)

    I am now able to upload a route from RWGPS through the companion app to my Karoo 2, but my rides are not uploading to Strava through the app.

    +1 for more transparency. If it really is a hardware constraint preventing use of the companion app with the K2, just make a support page and get it over with. For me it doesn’t look like the new one is worth the $$ but I would consider it if there were an upgrade discount like they did with K1.

    +1.
    Would like to see the trickle down philosophy.
    @Hammerhead: a little statement please

    Hi All, the companion app for iPhone is only available for the Karoo 2. Companion app for the Android phones and Karoo 2 will continue to function as it is currently. We will let you know if there are any changes to the functionalities, as of now there are no plans.

    @Ali I don´t fully understand your comment... I think you meant ''the companion app for iPhone is only available for the new Karoo''. Wich is quite disappointing

    Well it looks like 1 year later and still nothing has been done. I can not believe that it is technically not feasible which means that Hammerhead had chosen not to support K2 with the companion app. There is so little value in upgrading to the K3 that I suspect that they are trying to at least provide one good reason.
    Garmin has good functional for live tracking and automatically sending a link to a predefined set of people, It looks like the companion app now does something similar but without being able to to use it with the K2 it is very limiting.
    It unfortunately looks like gradually Hammerhead is falling behind e.g Garmin when in the past I thought there UI and functionality was better and easier to use
    Too bad
