K3 - Beeper still too loud (new AUDIO ALERTS) v1.524.2003.20

Since the device is also used in very quiet locations, a setting like the current one is not sufficient:

  • very loud
  • loud
  • mute 

better:

  • loud (70 dB)
  • normal (50 dB)
  • quiet (30 dB)
  • mute (0 dB)

much better:

  • 5-10 volume levels

PLEASE check the current status,
this is a really important issue for the users!

We all love our Karoo 3, but we need a much better volume adjustment!

    The threads should not be marked as complete with no update from Hammerhead as they then appear to the casual observer as if the developers have addressed the issue. Additionally a lot of Hammerhead users will not contribute to this forum or read it and are still irritated by the intrusive radar alerts. I haven’t seen one single comment on the threads where someone says “leave them as they are they’re great!! “

    Hi Hammerhead Development Team,
    First time poster and NEW owner of the New Karoo 3. First ride with a new Garmin RTL515 radar.
    Literally mid ride, sitting here at a coffee shop trying to find the volume controls to reduce the volume for the radar alerts has lead me here! Concerning that I have come across a 1+ year old thread with endless requests for a volume control and now this thread.
    I love the radar - my experience so far is 30 minutes, but the volume of the Karoo - a deal breaker.
    I waited for a New Karoo as I’m on SRAM AXS and they work well together.
    Will the team provide a rough timeline as to when this unit will get a volume level update? Once this ride is finished, the unit will go back into a box to be returned as it’s too loud for my quiet solo local rides.
    I wanted to replace my Garmin Edge 130+ with a Karoo but will now have to consider a 540 or 840 etc.
    Keen for an update with a tentative General Availability date for volume controls.

    @tobylong.design Today Karoo [3] got a radar tone update:
    We added the ability to choose between three different radar tones to best suit your riding conditions. Go to Ride Profiles → Audio Alerts to edit and preview the new tones.

    Thank you for the effort hammerhead team, but ouch, the new radar tones are so loud they actually hurt my ears. I'll stick with kxradar extension, it is so much better for radar. I think kxradar should be made available in the extension library for easy access, if it is not already!

    thanks for adjusting the tone.

    but why still a multitone and not 1 single beeb.

    and i would like to be able to adjust the tone for navigation too

    Thinking about to buy a K3 unit and I am afraid now based on what I read in this thread that the GPS is gonna be too loud. The idea is to use it with a rear light and radar too.
    Is there a way to mute the beeps? How much loud is when unmute it?

    @Jotach. The implement last week the ability to choose between three different radar tones to best suit your riding conditions. Go to Ride Profiles → Audio Alerts to edit and preview the new tones. I'm very happy with the  'shorter and quieter' sound.

    I read that one, but I dont have the unit in my hands yet. Also not able to watch any video about it. Three different radar tones means same volume but different tones I guess. 

    Are you able to set it up to low volume and one beep only (for instance)? Ok See the edit a bit late. Thanks

    The audio volume of the three options are clearly different in loudness and thickness.

    Plus you can manage the audio notifications - on or off - for:

    Turn By Turn: Hear TBT alerts in ride.

    Workouts: Hear interval alerts in ride.

    Radar: Hear vehicle approaching, and clear alerts in ride.

    Strava Live Segments: Hear segment approaching and segment complete alerts in ride.

    Phone: Hear phone notification alerts in ride.

    EBike: Hear alerts when assist mode changes in ride.
