Could you not just download the activity FIT file from the Dashboard?

That is how I transfer them into Garmin Connect and it works fine.

Yes, but I want to get to the bottom of the issue.

    @Matt,
I am sorry for the trouble with the developer mode option.

We would recommend you to Press and hold the E button and close all the window. Then try launching the developer mode from the settings and let us know if you are able to access your files from the PC.

Is it possible to disable Developer Mode, once it's been enabled?

I may have accidentally(!) enabled Developer Mode on my Karoo and now I want to disable it. I appreciate it's probably not doing any harm being in Developer Mode but I was just curious why the Developer option switch set to Off does not seem to get rid of the Developer Options and Apps menus from the Settings menu.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I'm having the same problem too, in that I can't turn off the developer mode.  There must be some way to get out of it.  Has anyone figured out how to turn it off after having turned it on?  I went into to clear the 'HX Navigation Service" memory to hopefully stop the "HX Navigation Service Failure" I keep getting.  But now I can't exit Developer Mode.

I just initiated a "Factory Data Reset" on my Karoo and Developer Mode has gone.

It's not too much of a PITA because most ride data is stored in the cloud anyway. You will have have to reconnect to your wi-fi networks, re-pair external sensors, download offline maps, and sync with your Hammerhead account but, apart from that, all of your ride data should come back with no issues.

Here's what Ashish told me when I contacted Hammerhead about this issue:

    Hi Stephen,

    Thanks for contacting us.

We do not have an option to permanently disable the developer's option on any android devices, as it is an integral part of the software.

The only option to remove the developer option from the list is to perform the factory reset from the Settings app.
I would also like to inform you that, the Developers mode, will not cause any trouble for the functionality of the Karoo and it is quite safe to leave it enabled, as long as you do not make any changes with the option.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Best Regards,
    Ashish
    Hammerhead

    Hope this helps.

    Steve,

Thanks, that's a big help.  I kind of figured that might be the case.  Strange though that you can turn it on but not off.

Good to know, but if you don't make any changes , why would you use the Developer Options ?

the Developers mode, will not cause any trouble for the functionality of the Karoo and it is quite safe to leave it enabled, as long as you do not make any changes with the option.

I have had the "SETTINGS" app disappear after enabling  the Developer Options, and this was recoverable with the above recommendation, a Factory reset.

Thanks for the help in affirming the safety in exploring it and continued access to this feature.
